Tactile Color showcases the artwork of SallyB, who creates touchable fabric interpretations of master works, bringing the two-dimensional art world directly into the hands of the viewer. The project began as a way to bring significant artworks to the blind or those with low vision, but it has become a genuine example of universal design and a wonderful experience for everyone. The OSU Urban Arts Space, 50 W. Town St., is showcasing SallyB’s works, including The Red Poppy (seen above), an homage to Georgia O’Keeffe. Also on view are interpretations of Van Gogh, Joan Miró and Franz Marc. The exhibit runs  Oct. 6-Feb. 6 with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 4. Optometry lecture highlights world scholar
Oct. 14
Irvin Borish, an internationally known scholar and professor emeritus from Indiana University who has influenced every aspect of optometry for decades, is the featured speaker at the inaugural Jeffrey and Joyce Myers Lecture Series in the Jennings Hall auditorium. The program begins at 5:15 p.m. with a reception immediately following.

The lecture series was established through a gift from Jeffrey and Joyce Myers. Their intent was to sponsor one lecture per academic year during the autumn quarter featuring a guest speaker from outside the university with special expertise across the domains of optometry and vision science. Myers, a graduate of the OSU optometry class of 1984, is a private-practice optometrist in central Ohio.
