4-7-2004 Weekly construction project updates availableOver the next few months, the campus area will undergo unprecedented construction, with some traffic patterns, walkways and parking areas temporarily altered in the name of progress. To inform and assist the campus community, the latest information regarding these changes will be updated weekly and distributed through OSUToday and posted online at www.osu.edu/news/construction_update.php Motorists and pedestrians should plan for extra time, or an alternate route around these construction locations: • Construction of a new exit from the North Cannon Garage onto Upham Drive has begun. During the construction, parking spaces on the first floor, adjacent to the new exit, will be blocked off. • To facilitate the widening of 12th Avenue in preparation for the state route 315 ramps — scheduled to open in July — traffic on 12th Avenue is restricted to one-way eastbound between the University Hospital loading dock and Neil Avenue. All traffic exiting the 12th Avenue Garage will be detoured eastbound. Project schedules have been rearranged to minimize the impacts to customers in this area, however traffic delays will be inevitable. All traffic not accessing the parking along 12th Avenue should use King Avenue as a detour. This restriction is expected to last into June. For now, motorists parking in the North Cannon Garage still will be permitted to exit westbound. • Cannon Drive is restricted to two lanes, but traffic will be maintained. The east sidewalk is closed. • Ninth Avenue traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction. The west entrance to the Ninth Avenue Garage is closed; use the entrance on the north side. • The 17th Avenue north sidewalk is closed from Millikin Avenue to the Larkins keycard gate until Sept. 24. • 19th Avenue is closed to through traffic. Access to the west side of 19th is available via 17th and Neil avenues. |
