1-31-2007 Bucks for Charity surpasses goalBucks for Charity received more than $1.1 million in donations from staff and faculty, a new record for the annual campaign. The donations, announced at the Finale Luncheon on Jan. 31 at the Longaberger Alumni House, eclipsed last year’s mark of $1.05 million. The new level included 500 more donors than in past campaigns. “The coordinators from each college or unit worked really hard to make Bucks for Charity a success,” said Michele Bondurant, program manager for special events in the Office of Human Resources. The Medical Center, the largest participating campus employer, contributed more than $313,000 — the most to the campaign, which began Oct. 2. This is the ninth year in a row Bucks for Charity has surpassed the previous year’s total and the fourth consecutive year of collecting more than $1 million. In addition, 110 employees were honored at the luncheon for contributing at the Leadership Level, where donors choose to donate a percentage of their gross pay through after-tax payroll deductions. These employees gave nearly $165,000 to support the more than 300 local not-for-profit organizations. “I’m ecstatic that our generosity at Ohio State continues to grow,” Bondurant said. “It shows that the folks who work here believe they are not just residents in the community, but partners in its well-being.”
