2-16-2007 Staff spotlight 2/15/07Jill Davis, a university employee for the past 10 years, works at the Wexner Center Why did you choose to work at Ohio State? I’m originally from Ohio, had been working at a modern art museum in another city and wanted to return to Columbus. My job here at the Wexner is a great match with my interests and skills. What do you like about your job? Every day is different, I meet and work with world-class artists and my colleagues are fun, bright, creative people. What would you improve at Ohio State? More healthy eating options and indoor tennis courts. What advice would you give a new employee? Take some time to learn about all the perks OSU offers its employees. If you weren’t working at Ohio State, what would you rather be doing? I wouldn’t mind owning my own shop. That way I could carry all the stuff I can’t find in Columbus stores. Who is your hero? I don’t have a specific hero — we all have our own little heroic moments. What is your favorite activity outside of work? I like to spend time with my family, have friends over for dinner, go to the movies, do yoga, play tennis, work in the garden and listen to music. What are you going to do when you retire? Move to the Napa Valley and occasionally drink too much. If you were the university president for a day, what would you do? I would institute a mandatory community service program for all faculty, staff and students. I think there’s something like 50,000 people affiliated with this university; we could make a huge difference. The Topspot is a feature in each issue of onCampus that spotlights a staff member.
