2-16-2007 Board of Trustees to choose new chairman in MarchThe Board of Trustees will choose a new chair in March if a five-point resolution is approved. In the past, a trustee served as chair in his or her ninth year of service to the board. With the recent addition of six members, the next chair will be elected by the trustees and replace Judge Robert Duncan if the board approves a resolution proposed at the Feb. 2 meeting. The resolution says: -- All voting members of the board will be eligible to be elected to the office of chair. Two students serve on the board, but do not have voting rights. -- The chair will be elected for a two-year period, subject to an annual review, with the possibility of re-election for a third year. -- The election of a chair will require a majority of all voting members. -- The voting will be by secret ballot -- The election for the 2007-08 chair will take place at the March meeting. The new chair will take office at the conclusion of the May board meeting.
