The students will answer the questions as they think the candidates would.
The debate will be moderated by Colleen Marshall of NBC4, and the candidates will be coached by Herb Asher, professor emeritus of political science (Democrats), and Greg Lashutka, former Mayor of Columbus (Republicans).
Attendance at the event is by invitation only. For more information, contact Kevin Freeman at 247-7821 or freeman.259@osu.edu.
OSU Marion lauds top staff member Ohio State Marion recently recognized Louis Hominga, an academic program coordinator, with its 2007 Outstanding Staff Award.
Hominga, who has been at Ohio State for more than 11 years, began his career at OSU Marion but moved to its satellite classrooms at the Delaware Center in Lewis Center in 2002. In his multifaceted role, Hominga is the full-time contact in academic advising and admissions while also serving as a staff assistant. He was nominated by one of his co-workers and his supervisor for his direct work assisting students. New University Laboratory Animal Resources director named Valerie Bergdall, the interim director of University Laboratory Animal Resources since December 2006, has been named the permanent director.
Over the past two years, Bergdall has worked extensively with faculty, with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and with staff from the Office of Responsible Research Practices to establish and maintain an animal care and use program that better meets the needs of researchers. It also was her responsibility to adhere to all federal guidelines, and she kept the department fully certified by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International. Under Bergdall’s direction, ULAR provides husbandry for more than 125,000 research animals and supports the faculty’s research programs as defined within the nearly 1,000 research protocols active at any given time. Under her new appointment, Bergdall will formally serve as university veterinarian, and will continue in her appointment as clinical professor within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Taste of OSU brings international flavor The Office of International Affairs, along with more than 30 Ohio State student organizations and the Campus Dining Services chefs, are coming together to prepare an evening of international food, desserts and cultural performances for the campus community at Taste of OSU and World Carnaval, which is set for January 25 from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Recreational and Physical Activities Center (RPAC).
The event is free and open to all OSU students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends. Food tickets cost $1 and the funds are donated to each of the participating student organizations. The majority of the student organizations will prepare foods with an international flavor that are characteristic of their home countries.
Guests will be able to make free international telephone calls from 5 p.m. to midnight.
