March 9 The Social and Behavioral Sciences Alumni Society annual meeting welcomes Bill Hosket, OSU basketball alum, All-American, All-Big Ten, Academic All-American and analyst for ESPN Regional Television, as its keynote speaker. Autographed basketballs and more will be auctioned for SBS’ student scholarship fund. All SBS graduates are invited. Admission is $20 with all proceeds going to the SBS Alumni Society Student Scholarship Fund. WOSU celebrates grand opening of new studios
March 24 In honor of the grand opening of WOSU Public Media’s new radio studios at the Fawcett Center, WOSU will hold an open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Guests are invited to tour the new state-of-the-art studios, meet WOSU personalities and learn more about WOSU and digital radio. Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee also will be a guest on WOSU 820 AM’s Open Line with Fred Andrle that morning from 10-11 a.m., and Boyce Lancaster, host of classical music on WOSU 89.7, will be broadcasting during this time as well. Guests can enter the front doors of the Fawcett Center and follow the directional signs to the open house. No registration is necessary. OSU Libraries’ Jewish Literature Series kicks off
March 31 OSU Libraries is repeating a five-part reading and discussion series, “Let’s Talk About It: Jewish Literature – Identity and Imagination.” The series will explore the theme Modern Marvels: Jewish Adventures in the Graphic Novel, and will be led by Steven Fink, OSU professor of English. Discussions will be held on Monday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. in the seminar room adjacent to the Cartoon Research Library in the Wexner Center for the Arts. Nominations, Awards and Grants Awards of Excellence seek nominations

Deadline March 21 The Transnational Feminisms Graduate Organization at Ohio State is seeking participants for the Gender and Emancipation: Perspectives from East and West – Transnational Exchange Project. Students interested in participating in an international dialogue about gender and emancipation and transnational feminism with students and young scholars from Germany, Sudan and Syria are encouraged to apply. Participation in discussions during spring quarter will serve as the foundation for a weeklong conference in August in Berlin. March 19 Turning conflict into collaboration is a critical skill for all supervisors. Preventing, managing and responding to workplace conflict is the focus of “Can’t We All Just Get Along?” a workshop through the Organization and Human Resource Consulting Supervisor Training to Enhance Performance program. March 7 As part of the Out @ Wex annual gay filmmaking festival, “Water Lilies,” which has been charming international audiences, will make its Columbus debut. It presents an achingly acute depiction of teenage girls wrestling with friendship, heterosexual and same-sex crushes as well as the ordinary cruelty of adolescents. The film follows “No Bikini,” a short film from Canada that is as much about finding inner strength as it is about gender discovery. Deadline March 28 The Ohio Short Film and Video Showcase, as well as its youth division for filmmakers 18 years and under, is looking for the best the Buckeye state has to offer. The showcase is intended to provide Ohio’s independent media artists a chance to show their work in a theatrical setting before an audience. Last year’s capacity crowd witnessed 13 short works by artists from across the state. The 2008 showcase screening takes place May 10 in the Wexner Center Film/Video Theater. Pieces must be independently produced, no longer than 20 minutes in length and produced in Ohio within the last 18 months.
