1-19-2005 By: United Black World Month 2005Omarosa Manigault Stallworth, an alumna from the hit television show The Apprentice, is the guest speaker for the 34th annual celebration of United Black World Month (UBWM) at Ohio State. Stallworth will speak at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 in the Ohio Union ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.
“Obtaining Freedom through Unity” is the theme for UBWM, which features educational programs highlighting African American history and culture throughout February.
Stallworth currently serves as a managing partner for Access America Enterprise Corp., a strategic business planning and consulting service.
She gained considerable experience in politics and government relations as the deputy associate director of presidential personnel for President Bill Clinton and as the senior scheduling and advance coordinator to Vice President Al Gore.
Prior to both her business and political careers, Stallworth worked as a journalist covering stories ranging from the 1996 Olympic Games to the 1997 Presidential Inauguration.
A graduate of Central State University, Stallworth earned her master’s degree from Howard University, where she is currently pursuing her doctorate.

Unspeakable Things Spoken, 7 p.m., Hale Black Cultural Center. Raymond Winbush, psychologist and director of the Institute on Urban Research at Morgan State University, will lead a discussion of the African American student experience at Ohio State.
• Feb. 4-6
Roll Call: Exploring Feminine Rhythms of Wellness, Hale Black Cultural Center. A health and wellness weekend retreat for women of color. Space is limited and restricted to Ohio State students. Participants must pre-register at the Hale Center at 292-0074.
• Feb. 16
An Evening of Art Songs and Spirituals, 7:30 p.m., Weigel Auditorium. Lyric soprano Janice Chandler-Eteme presents this concert as part of the President and Provost’s Diversity Lecture and Cultural Arts series.
• Feb. 18
Jazz Ensemble, 8 p.m., Weigel Auditorium. Tickets are $6 for the general public and $4 for Ohio State faculty, staff and students, and senior citizens.
• Feb. 22
Gospel and Spiritual Ensemble, 8 p.m., Weigel Auditorium. Tickets are $6 for the general public and $4 for Ohio State faculty, staff and students, and senior citizens.
• Feb. 24
The Demise of the Great White Hope: Race Riots in the Aftermath of the Johnson-Jefferies Heavyweight Fight, 5:30 p.m., Multicultural Center. Columbus State Community College adjunct professor and contributing sports columnist Jessica Johnson will discuss the nationwide race riots that occurred after Jack Johnson defeated Jim Jeffries for the heavyweight crown in 1910.
Comedian Wanda Sykes in Concert, 8 p.m., Mershon Auditorium.Wanda Sykes will bring her comedy routine to the Ohio State campus. The event is free to Ohio State students with Buck•ID.
