College of Medicine seeks full-time dean

In a letter to Medical Center faculty and staff dated Jan. 26, Fred Sanfilippo, CEO of the OSU Medical Center, senior vice president and executive dean for health sciences and dean of the College of Medicine, announced that he is relinquishing his deanship of the COM and launching a search committee to find a leader dedicated to the college.

"As we continue our unprecedented growth in research, education and patient care, each component of the Medical Center benefits from fully dedicated and focused leadership. This recruitment will provide such leadership for the college," he said.

Sanfilipppo has appointed a search committee comprised of: Elizabeth Lenz, dean, College of Nursing, and Joseph Alutto, dean, Fisher College of Business, chair and vice chair, respectively; the past and present chairs of the College of Medicine Faculty Council; and the president of the College of Medicine Student Council. The new dean is expected to be announced by July 1.
