Feb. 21, Students present plans for Mississippi rebuilding. Draft plans for addressing rebuilding and growth in two hurricane-affected communities of Mississippi will be presented for public review on Feb. 21. A team of graduate city and regional planning students will be presenting the results of their work after spending the quarter drafting plans and considering zoning changes to the Harrison County code. March 8, Legendary broadcaster and NBC News Special Correspondent Tom Brokaw will present the next headline lecture for the John Glenn Institute. The lecture, "Reflections on the Greatest Generation," will take place at 4 p.m. March 8 in Mershon Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Brokaw, author of The Greatest Generation, will speak about the extraordinary sacrifices and accomplishments of the generation who came of age during the Great Depression and World War II. The special guest at this event includes Sen. John Glenn. Brokaw's lecture is sponsored in part by the Ohio Telecom. Nominations, Awards and Grants
Feb. 20, Celebrate a Moment in History. Faculty, staff and students are invited to be part of a moment in history with former astronaut and senator John Glenn at 4 p.m. Feb. 20 in Page Hall as he is presented with NASA's Ambassador of Exploration Award on the 44th anniversary of his first orbital flight. The award, which contains a moon rock sample, will be submitted to the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy and added to his other memorabilia on exhibit in Page Hall. Feb. 28, The Association for Women in Science of Central Ohio is seeking faculty and staff in all areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine to volunteer during Women in Science Day, to be held on March 31 in the Ohio Union. The deadline to register as a presenter is Feb. 28.
Volunteers are needed to present one to two-hour hands-on workshops to small groups of girls in grades seven-10, or to escort small groups of girls to their classes on campus. The workshops will take place at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
