OSU AND LSU HAM RADIO CLUBS CELEBRATE BCS CHAMPIONSHIPWhile the athletes are busy deciding which team is Number One in college football on Monday (1/7), ham radio enthusiasts from Ohio State and LSU will take to the airwaves to meet and greet alumni, friends and fans though the medium of Amateur Radio. Using shortwave radio, the Ohio State Amateur Radio Club (radio call sign W8LT) and the Amateur Radio Society at LSU (K5LSU) will contact radio hams throughout the world on Monday and even resort to Morse Code for some contacts to recognize the early days of radio. Those who succeed in communicating with both of the college radio clubs will earn a special commemorative award. ORRP ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENT RESEARCHERSThe Office of Responsible Research Practices is offering special office hours this winter to help both graduate and undergraduate student researchers who are preparing Behavioral and Social Sciences Institutional Review Board submissions and exemption requests. ORRP staff will help students and their advisors navigate IRB forms, policies and review procedures. Office hours will be held in 150L Page Hall, in space provided by the Undergraduate Research Office. No appointment is necessary. Dates and times are available online. Contact: 292-2454 or pettey.6@osu.edu VOLUNTEER TUTORS NEEDED FOR COLUMBUSREADS PROGRAMOSU Columbus Reads Program needs permanent volunteer tutors for one hour each week with kindergarten students for the remainder of the 2007-08 school year. There is also a need for volunteer substitute tutors for one hour each week to fill in when a permanent tutor is not available. Transportation is provided to and from the school, and training is provided for all new tutors.
