BIG TEN CONFERENCE ON BLACK STUDENT LEADERSHIPOhio State is hosting the first Big Ten Conference on Black Student Leadership, to be held Friday (1/25)-Monday (1/28) at the Fawcett Center. The theme for its inaugural year is Bonded by Race, United by Vision, Striving Toward F.R.E.E.D.O.M (Financial, Reform, Education, Empowerment, Diversity, Opportunity, Mission). TASTE OF OSU BRINGS INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR TO CAMPUSJoin International Affairs and 35 student organizations as they present Taste of OSU and World Carnaval, from 5 p.m.-midnight Friday (1/25) at RPAC. Enjoy international foods, cultural exhibits, free international telephone calls and the Campus Dining Services Chefs' Competition. From 9 p.m.-midnight, the atmosphere turns to a Moonlight Madness event where guests can enjoy international music, karaoke, international board games and more. Admission is free and food and beverage tickets cost $1 each. Taste of OSU is open to all Ohio State students, faculty, staff, alumni, families and friends. Submissions should seek to educate people about any aspect of global health including health care for underserved populations within and outside of the United States, physical health care structures, administration of health care, preventative measures, and indigenous medicine. Joseph Krygier and Susan Powell, OSU percussion faculty, are members of the group. Sympatico will perform a variety of percussion ensemble pieces including The Invisible Proverb by Russell Hartenberger, an African-based mallet ensemble piece, and Ogoun Badagris by Chrisopher Rouse, a bombastic drumming piece influenced by Voodoo drum rituals. Tickets are $12 (general admission), $6 (senior citizens and students with ID), and free for School of Music faculty, staff and students with ID.
