EXHIBITIONS OPEN DOWNTOWN AT OSU URBAN ARTS SPACE

The College of the Arts has opened the doors of the new OSU Urban Arts Space, located at 50 W. Town St. in the historic Lazarus building in downtown Columbus. The exhibition and alternative performance space will serve as a “professional launching pad” for students. Exhibitions currently showing include Midnight Robbers: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival, a look at the incredible artistry of the London Carnival, and Linking the Past to the Future, a look at the historic Lazarus building through the years. Urban Arts Space is open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 4-8 p.m. Thursday. It’s also open the first Saturday of each month, and by appointment. Contact: 292-5184. REGISTER NOW FOR ANNUAL PATTERSON LECTURE

Online registration is now available for the James F. Patterson Land-Grant University Lecture by President E. Gordon Gee, scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday (4/15) at the Blackwell Inn. Recipients of the 2008 outreach and engagement grants will be announced, and Ohio State nominees for the regional Outreach Scholarship W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award will be recognized. STATE ROUTE 315 CLOSURES SCHEDULED

From 8 p.m. today (2/8) through 9 a.m. Saturday (2/9), state Route 315 southbound will be closed between the Kinnear Road exit ramp and the Goodale exit ramp for roadwork repairs. The southbound 315 entrance ramps at Lane Avenue and Cannon Drive will be closed. Southbound 315 traffic will resume at the 315/Goodale Avenue entrance ramp. The routes for southbound EMS traffic into OSUMC will be Lane Avenue to Olentangy River Road to Herrick Drive to Cannon Drive or King/Kinnear Road exit to Olentangy River Road to King Avenue to Cannon Drive. BLACK HISTORY MONTH: OSU MANSFIELD SOUL FOOD DINNER

DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR OUTREACH GRANTS FEB. 29

Time is running out to submit your proposal for grants to support outreach and engagement. Excellence in Engagement grants must be ranked by deans, so allow extra time for this process. Requests for proposals are available online now. The deadline is Friday (2/29) for these grants: Excellence in Engagement, Course Development Grants, Course Development/Course Enhancement Grants, and Faculty Support and Seed Grants.

NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR ANNUAL ALUMNI AWARDS

The OSU Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its 50th annual alumni awards. Each year, the Alumni Association presents awards in seven categories to honor those living alumni who personify Ohio State’s tradition of excellence. To nominate a distinguished alumna or alumnus, download the official nomination form and complete the listed instructions. All nominations must be postmarked by Monday (3/31). LOST AND FOUND STORIES SOUGHT FOR ONCAMPUS ARTICLE

Have you ever lost an item on campus but were able to retrieve it at the Lost and Found in the Central Services Building? If so, onCampus is interested in hearing your story for an upcoming article. Let them know what you lost, especially if it was essential to your life or of sentimental value, what your emotions were when you found out it was gone and what it meant to you to know Lost and Found had it. FACULTY, STUDENT STAFF SOUGHT FOR JURO ONLINE JOURNAL

JURO, the Journal of Undergraduate Research at Ohio State, is looking for qualified OSU students and faculty to work on both the editorial and production staff of its first-ever online publication. A variety of positions are available. JURO will include all areas of research - including that of Science and Technology, Social Science, Business and Education, and Arts and Humanities. VETERINARY COLLEGE HOSTS PUPPY CLASSES

The OSU College of Veterinary Medicine is offering puppy socialization classes for puppies age 8-16 weeks and their owners. Puppy Kindergarten serves to socialize new puppies so that they may learn to handle stress and new situations well as an adult and provides owner education in all aspects of canine development and behavior problem prevention and resolution. Weekly classes begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (2/14). OSU employees and students receive a $10 discount on the six-week course (regularly $100). Class size is limited. Registration forms are available online.
