Headline newsHILLARY CLINTON TO VISIT OSU CAMPUS TODAYPresidential candidate Hillary Clinton, along with Gov. Ted Strickland and former Senator John Glenn, will hold a public rally at the French Field House today (2/14). Clinton is visiting as a guest of the student group OSU College Democrats. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. and speeches will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are not needed. Enter through the glass doors on the southeast side of French Field House. Bags are subject to search. To ensure speedy entrance, guests are advised not to bring them if possible. Additional traffic is expected in the area, so to avoid delays those not attending are advised to take alternate routes out of campus. Read more >
KNOWLTON FACULTY TO PRESENT ON SCARCITY CONFERENCE FEB. 15Knowlton School of Architecture faculty will deliver On Scarcity, a series of presentations from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday (2/15) regarding the presence of absence in the environments of today and tomorrow. The free conference will focus on scarcity as an engine of transformation and change in a variety of environments, and will take place in the Gui Gallery at Knowlton Hall. Read more > MUSEUM OF BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY OPEN HOUSE FEB. 16The Museum of Biological Diversity concludes its fourth Annual Open House and Public Lecture series with an open house from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday (2/16). This year's theme, “Alien Invaders,” is expected to be a hit with children of all ages. Special exhibits and hands-on activities for children will be a part of this behind-the-scenes look at a working research museum. Last year, more than 1,000 visitors toured the collections - which include insects, plants, birds, fish, mollusks and more. The open house, at 1315 Kinnear Road is free and open to the public. Read more > WYSLOUZIL TO DISCUSS GLOBAL WARMING, ROLE OF AEROSOLSBarbara Wyslouzil, OSU professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering and professor of chemistry, will discuss “Global Warming; What is the Role of Aerosols” from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Friday (2/15) at the Ohio Super Computer Center, 1224 Kinnear Road. The lecture concludes the environmental seminar series presented by the OSU Institute for Energy and the Environment in collaboration with the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program. Contact: norman.59@osu.edu TODAY: HEAR SONGBIRD’S 'TALE OF TWO WORLDS'Ohio State bird researcher Marja Bakermans will present “A Tale of Two Worlds: Linking Breeding and Non-breeding Ground Events for a Neotropical Migratory Songbird” at 3:30 p.m. today (2/14) in Columbus and by video link to Wooster. A doctoral candidate in the School of Environment and Natural Resources, Bakermans studies the cerulean warbler, a songbird seeing dramatic population declines, on its breeding grounds in southern Ohio and its wintering grounds in the Andes of Venezuela. JEFFERSON ACADEMY OF MUSIC AT OSU CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERTThe Jefferson Academy of Music at OSU Chamber Music Sunday Afternoons series continues with a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday (2/17) at the Columbus Museum of Art auditorium. The program features cello sonatas dedicated to the memory of Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich by Johannes Moser, cellist and winner of the 12th International Tchaikovsky Competition. Moser is making his Midwest recital debut between appearances in New York's Lincoln Center and Washington's Kennedy Center, with Adam Neiman, pianist. Tickets are $24 (adults), $17 (seniors and museum members), and $10 (students). Tickets may be ordered by calling 292-2693 through Friday (2/15), or purchased at the museum desk. O'Grady is currently Franklin County Clerk of Courts and has been endorsed by the Franklin County Democratic party.
