Wexner elected chair of OSU Board of Trustees

Leslie Wexner, chairman, president and CEO of Columbus-based Limited Brands, was unanimously elected chairman of the Ohio State Board of Trustees at their meeting Friday (2/6). In addition, the naming of the Engineering Department, Dodd Hall lobby and the Blackwell Inn ballroom, as well as the establishment of a new trustee position are among the many items approved. LIFESTYLE INTERVENTION STUDY. Volunteers, individuals ages 35-60, are being recruited for a lifestyle intervention study to modify health risk factors. The study will be conducted on the OSU campus during lunch time. Participation in the study will last approximately 12 weeks. Several blood samples and filling out of questionnaires will be required. Rodewald appointed to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Committee

Amanda Rodewald, associate professor of Wildlife Ecology in the School of Environment and Natural Resources, has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board’s Report of the Environment Committee. The committee will provide independent advice to EPA over the next two years regarding the EPA’s Report of the Environment. Rodewald also serves on the Ecological Processes and Effects Committee of EPA’s Science Advisory Board. Contact: rodewald.1@osu.edu

Traffic Alert: Tuttle Park Place detour begins Feb. 16

  • Beginning Monday (2/16), Tuttle Park Place will be closed between Lane and Neil Avenues. Traffic on Lane Avenue turning south on Tuttle will be detoured to Neil Avenue and back to Tuttle Park; Tuttle Park traffic will be detoured to Neil to proceed to Lane. This area will be closed through April as part of a utilities expansion project to support future development in the north campus region. View a map of the closures.
  • Pedestrian detours will also be required and sidewalks through Remembrance Park will be closed (NW corner of Tuttle and Woody Hayes); the north/south and east/west sidewalks along Woody Hayes and Tuttle will remain open.

AAAS Community Extension Center hosts Black History Forums

Minister Donell Muhammad, Muhammad's Mosque No. 43, Nation of Islam will present "Do for Self" from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday (2/11) at the Department of African American and African Studies Community Extension Center, 905 Mt. Vernon Ave. Every Wednesday in February, the center will host "Where do we go from here? Black History Forums" designed to educate & engage the African American community on issues that will impact the future. Read more >

Pending ADA Regulations & Local Government Facilities Feb. 25

Pending ADA Regulations and Local Government Facilities: Preparing for Change will be held from 1-4:30 p.m. Wednesday (2/25) at Franklin County Veterans Memorial, 300 W. Broad St. Hosted by Ohio State, Franklin County Public Facilities Management, and Columbus Advisory Committee on Disability Issues, the free session will focus on accessibility requirements and universal design principles for staff involved in the design, renovation and construction of projects. Government Career Fair scheduled for Feb. 18

A Government Career Fair will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday (2/18) at the Agricultural Administration Building on Fyffe Road. BuckID required for admission. Connect with government agencies recruiting for internship and employment opportunities. Feb. 21 Community Engagement Grand Rounds open to public

Primary care physicians, pediatricians and otolaryngologists from the OSU Medical Center and the Central Ohio area are invited to attend a special grand rounds devoted to community engagement from 9-11 a.m. Saturday (2/21) in 518A James. Topics include Fungal Sinusitis and the Use of Sublingual Immunotherapy in Adult and Pediatric Patients. Two hours of Category 1 CME will be given. No registration or fee required. Story as Leadership lecture & workshop Feb. 26-27

Story as Leadership, a lecture and workshop with Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea will take place Thursday (2/26) and Friday (2/27) at the Wexner Center Film & Video Theatre. Both the lecture (2/26, 4 p.m.) and the workshop (2/27, advance registration required), are free and open to the public. You’re invited to help create communities and spheres of influence that understand story’s potential to lead us to futures we want. Register for the workshop at The Women's Place web site.

Tickets available for high school tournaments at Schottenstein Center

For three big weekends in March, the Schottenstein Center is host to the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championship Tournaments for wrestling (March 5-7) and girls (March 19-21) and boys (March 26-28) basketball. Tickets are currently on sale for all-session books for wrestling. For ticket details for all three events, click here.
