Headline newsBENZAKEIN RECEIVES TOP AWARD IN AERONAUTICSMeyer (Mike) Benzakein, chair of the Department of Aerospace Engineering,
has been named the recipient of the 2007 Reed Aeronautics Award from
the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It is the highest
award an individual can receive for achievements in the field of aeronautical
science and engineering. Benzakein, recognized throughout the aviation
industry as a leader in the field of aeropropulsion engineering, including
working closely with NASA and the U.S. Air Force, will receive the
award at the AIAA Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala on Tuesday (5/15)

Read More > ODOD TO DISCUSS NEW COST SHARE PROGRAM MARCH 14On Wednesday (3/14) representatives from the Ohio Department of Development
will discuss ODOD’s New Research and Development Center Cost
Share Program. The presentation - of particular interest to college
research officers, center directors and faculty members planning large
center proposals - will begin at 1 p.m. in 113 OSU Research Foundation.
The goal is to increase the fundability of proposals for large new
research and development centers in Ohio by providing grants that can
be used to help meet cost share requirements in proposals to the federal
government, industry, foundations, and other sponsoring organizations.

Experience and the Mind” at 4:30 p.m. Monday (2/5) at the Faculty
Club. The lecture is part of the College of Humanities Inaugural Lecture
Series that honors Humanities faculty who have obtained the rank of
full professor, and provides the opportunity to present their work
and research interests to fellow college faculty and other university
guests. The event is free and open to the public. MODERN RACISM AGAINST AFRICAN AMERICANS MARCH 8Rudolph Alexander, Jr., OSU professor of Social Work will present “Modern
Racism Against African Americans” at 6 p.m. Thursday (3/8) at
the African American and African Studies Community Extension Center,
905 Mt. Vernon Ave. Alexander will discuss current myths regarding
crime, welfare, quotas, affirmative action, and employment discrimination.
Additional topics will include the racism involved in the Jessica Lynch
story and the movie “Boys Don't Cry.” The lecture is free
and open to the public and will conclude with a question and answer

be presenting summaries of their research during the first CSE Research
Poster Exhibition from 2:30-5 p.m. Friday (3/2) in the Knowlton Hall
Lobby. The work will cross CSE’s five research focus areas: Artificial
Intelligence, Graphics, Networking, Software Engineering and Systems.

Contact: jwdavis@cse.ohio-state.edu or FACULTY INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL GRANTS AVAILABLEThe Office of International Affairs is soliciting applications from faculty who are proposing to collaborate with foreign scholars in preparing a research grant proposal, participate in a faculty-exchange program, develop agreements linking OSU to major foreign institutions, or complete a manuscript jointly authored with a foreign based scholar. Grants range from $1,500 to $2,000 ($3,000 maximum). With the exception of those faculty members proposing to participate in an OSU faculty-exchange program, applicants are required to secure counterpart funds from OSU or external funding agencies. The application deadline is Friday (4/13) and applications are available online.
