CANCER RISK WEB SITES PUT TO TEST BY OSU RESEARCHERS

Web sites that use family medical history to help estimate a person’s risk of developing cancer should be improved to reach a more diverse audience and should take a more comprehensive view of family cancer history, according to a recent study by Ohio State cancer researchers. The study, published in a recent issue of Clinical Genetics, suggests that online cancer risk assessment tools should take a more integrated approach to disease assessment, including risk for multiple types of cancer and other diseases, as well as integrating hereditary risk. WOMEN AND FINANCIAL PLANNING SESSION MARCH 21

The Office of Human Resources will offer a brown bag session on Wednesday (3/21) targeted specifically for women who seek to understand finances and desire to learn how to reach their financial goals. NCAA MEN'S BASKETBALL TICKETS ON SALE TODAY

Tickets for the OSU men’s basketball team’s NCAA tournament South Regional appearance in San Antonio, Texas Thursday (3/22)-Saturday (3/24) will go on sale at 8 a.m. today (3/19). The Buckeyes will play No. 5-seed Tennessee Thursday, who defeated No. 4 Virginia 77-74 Sunday. Students, faculty/staff, suite holders, PSL holders, season ticket holders and the general public may purchase tickets at the Jerome Schottenstein Center or by calling (800) GO BUCKS. The cost for the ticket package is $135, which includes the regional semifinal game and the final game. The orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

HR TO OFFER MONETARY REWARDS FOR HEALTHY BEHAVIOR

A new university incentive program will financially reward employees who attempt to stay healthy. Under the Your Plan for Health 2007 Incentive Program, faculty and staff can earn a maximum of 125 points by taking part in activities such as nutrition counseling education classes, having vision and dental screenings, exercising and being tobacco-free or participating in tobacco cessation workshops. The points an employee earns will be converted into an equal dollar amount and be paid out in November. 2008-09 FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR AWARD COMPETITION OPEN

The Fulbright Scholar Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars, offers approximately 800 awards annually to U.S. faculty, librarians and professionals to lecture and/or conduct research abroad. Roy J. HR OFFERS RETIREMENT CHOICES FORUM MARCH 22

Human Resources will offer a forum on Thursday (3/22) for newly hired faculty and staff to help with decisions regarding their retirement choices under ARP/OPERS/STRS. The forum will be held from noon-1 p.m. in Office of Human Resources, 1590 N. High Street, Suite 430, and is designed for faculty and staff who have an appointment of at least 75 percent FTE and have been with the university for less than 120 days. At the forum, a benefits representative will review, compare and summarize the plan options under the OPERS/STRS retirement systems and the provisions of the Alternative Retirement Plan.
