Headline newsDON’T FORGET TO VOTE TODAYAs you are aware, today (3/4) is primary day in Ohio and voters in Franklin County will be casting ballots not only for Democratic and Republican candidates but also for several local issues. It is important to remember that every registered voter will be required to provide proof of identity. Acceptable forms of identification include any one of the following: current, valid driver’s license or state identification card; military identification; or a utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or government document that shows your name and current address. Registered voters who do not provide proof of identity can still cast a provisional ballot. If you are registered to vote in Franklin County and are unsure of your polling location, details are available online.
HINKLE TO RECEIVE AMERICAN PHARMACISTS ASSOCIATION AWARDGeorge Hinkle, OSU associate professor of Pharmacy Practice, has been selected to receive the Daniel B. Smith Practice Excellence Award by the American Pharmacists Association, to be presented at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition to be held Friday (3/14)-Monday (3/17) in San Diego, Calif. The award recognizes outstanding performance and achievements of a pharmacist in any practice setting who has distinguished himself or herself and the profession of pharmacy. Read more > OIT ISSUES PHISHING SCAM ALERTA large number of Ohio State e-mail addresses were sent a phishing scam e-mail Sunday afternoon (3/2), asking that the user respond with his/her OSU e-mail password to complete an “Account Verification” process. This message is a scam and unrelated to any work currently being done on the Central E-mail System. It was not sent by the Office of Information Technology or anyone else within the university. Read more > OHIO PRIMARY ELECTION COVERAGE ON WOSUWOSU Public Media will provide full coverage of the Ohio Primary Election today (3/4), with follow-up coverage on Wednesday (3/5) on WOSU 820 AM and WOSU 89.7 FM. From 10-11 a.m. today WOSU 820 AM will air a special Open Line with Fred Andrle featuring an in-depth discussion about voting procedures. Thomas, III, the John and Catherine Angle Professor in the Humanities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is the next speaker in the “2020 Vision: The Future of Scholarship and Publishing” series, at 3:30 p.m. today (3/4) at the Faculty Club. Read more > APPLY NOW FOR RESEARCH COLLABORATION AWARDOhio State’s College of Medicine and College of Public Health and the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital are jointly sponsoring an intramural research award designed to stimulate collaboration between the respective campuses. Up to five awards will be given - two in clinical sciences, two in basic sciences and one in public health research. Up to $50,000 annually will be awarded for two years. Research projects will attempt to address the full range of digital and non-digital contexts that characterize writing and composition in the 21st century. MORITZ COLLEGE SEEKING JURORS FOR MOCK TRIALSThe Clinical Programs at the Moritz College of Law is seeking faculty/staff to serve as jurors at mock trials to be held at 4:15 p.m. Thursday (4/3), Monday (4/7), Friday (4/11) and Monday (4/14) in the Moot Court Room (room 249) at the College of Law. The judges in the cases will be sitting judges from around the state of Ohio. Jurors will hear an entire case and then discuss their verdict and impressions of the trial with the law students and judges after the case. Dan Noonan, University Archives, will be joined by students from Evening Street Elementary School and their Reading Recovery teacher in reading from their favorite works and some Dr. Seuss to boot.
