Headline newsU.S. JUST AVERAGE IN TERMS OF WOMEN’S ROLE IN POLITICS, AUTHORS SAYWhen it comes to political equality for women, the United States ranks “middle of the pack” compared to most other countries, according to the authors of a recent book on women and global politics. The candidacy of Hillary Rodham Clinton for president has broken new ground in the United States, but the nation still trails many other countries in women’s political representation, said Pamela Paxton, OSU associate professor of sociology and political science. Paxton and Melanie Hughes, OSU doctoral student in sociology, are authors of “Women, Politics, and Power: A Global Perspective” (Pine Forge Press, 2007). Read more >
TELR ACCEPTING RESEARCH ON RESEARCH GRANT PROPOSALSTELR's Research on Research Grants program encourages unique partnerships between faculty and undergraduate students. For the fifth year, TELR is seeking teams to create multimedia projects, with the help of Digital Union resources, based on faculty research needs. Apply now through Monday (4/7). Last year's nine recipients developed ePortfolios on topics ranging from Amish settlements to supermaps and microbial fuel cells to an assistive walking device. The program allows faculty to create a topic and bundle two or more GEC courses from at least two GEC categories that support their chosen topic. Proposals are due Friday (10/24). SALVATION ARMY KICKS OFF WEEKEND OF BRASS ON CAMPUSKnown for its famous brass bands, the Salvation Army will kick off a weekend of brass band performances from 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday (3/8) in Weigel Hall at the 23rd annual God and Country Concert.
