Israeli photographer Adi Nes will discuss his Biblical Stories series - now on view at the Wexner Center - and other recent works at 7 p.m. Tuesday (3/25). In these stunning staged photographs, he depicts figures from the Old Testament by casting ordinary people from contemporary Tel Aviv as the characters, drawing on visual sources as wide-ranging as Caravaggio’s paintings and Dorothea Lange’s photographs. LARGE BINOCULAR TELESCOPE ACHIEVES 'FIRST LIGHT'

After more than a decade of preparation, the world’s most powerful telescope is now looking skyward with both of its massive eyes wide open. Owned by Ohio State and four other partners worldwide, the Large Binocular Telescope has successfully achieved first binocular light. With this latest milestone, the telescope will provide new and more powerful views of deep space, including potentially answering fundamental questions about the origins of the universe and mysterious worlds in other planetary systems. LIFESTYLE INTERVENTION STUDY. Volunteers, ages 35-60, are being recruited for a lifestyle intervention study to modify health risk factors. The study will be conducted on the OSU campus during lunch time. Participation in the study will last approximately 12 weeks. Several blood samples and filling out of questionnaires will be required. MULTICULTURAL CENTER ACCEPTING ANNUAL AWARD NOMINATIONS

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Multicultural Center's Annual Awards. Nominees should be individuals or groups at Ohio State or within the central Ohio community that have provided initiative, innovation, work or service in areas congruent with the MCC's mission. Lester R. Mohler, 1964 graduate of the OSU College of Medicine and an internationally recognized plastic and reconstructive surgeon, will deliver "Innovative Medicine: Global Applications." IRB FORMS HELP SESSION MARCH 19

Investigators, graduate students and research staff are encouraged to attend a help session on IRB applications (e.g., initial review, continuing review, amendment, event reporting) from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday (3/19) in 113 Research Foundation. Office of Responsible Research Practices staff will be on hand to answer questions. MARCH 14 CONFERENCE TO EXAMINE ONLINE DEMOCRACY

"Online Consultation and Public Policy Making: Democracy, Identity, and New Media," set for Friday (3/14) at OSU's Barrister Club, will feature researchers from Australia, England, France, Israel, Italy, Korea and Slovenia, as well as the U. SPORTS TOURNAMENTS, EVENTS TO IMPACT PARKING

A number of major events occurring throughout the month of March will impact parking and traffic on campus. In the northwest campus area, Ohio High School Athletic Association tournaments are taking place. These events, along with other events in the vicinity will make parking difficult and may impact your commute to and from campus. Please visit the Transportation and Parking Services Web site, which contains information about tournament days and times and suggestions about how to minimize any inconvenience.
