Voigt awarded Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant
Lisa Voigt, associate professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholar Grant. Voigt will be affiliated with the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal, where she will be a visiting researcher at the Center for Overseas History during 2015-16. Voigt will be conducting research at the National Library and other libraries and archives for her book project, “Performing Global Cultures in Early Modern Portuguese Festivals.”

Forbes recognizes Athletics Department

Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference
Proposals for presentations and posters are being accepted through Friday (3/20) for the 2015 Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference set for Tuesday (9/29)-Wednesday (9/30) at Penn State. Fulbright-Hays competition now open for grant support
International Affairs is seeking applicants for the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad program. Grants provide support for advanced graduate students studying modern foreign languages and area studies. Doctoral candidates proposing full-time dissertation research abroad on topics that develop research knowledge and capabilities in world areas not commonly taught in U.S. institutions must apply by Friday (4/17).

Koremenos on 'continent of international law'
Barbara Koremenos, associate professor of political science at University of Michigan, will deliver “The Continent of International Law: (Im)precision and Reservations” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (3/12) at the Mershon Center for International Security Studies. She will discuss structuring international law to make international cooperation most successful. Her book, The Continent of International Law, will be available from Cambridge University Press.

Darnton to deliver Havens Lecture
Robert Darnton, Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor, department of history, and director of the University Library at Harvard University, will present “What Did the French Read on the Eve of the Revolution?” on Thursday (3/12) at 4:30 p.m. in 1180 Postle Hall. Darnton will also introduce an open-access website with information about the demand for literature and the way the book trade actually operated under the Ancien Régime.

Step up for Science Olympiad
The 31st annual Science Olympiad State Tournament will take place Saturday (4/11) from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Ohio State campus. Volunteers are needed to help for the day or for four-hour shifts. All volunteers receive a t-shirt and free lunch. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, checking project specifications, handling stopwatches, grading exams, entering score data and directing students and their families around campus.
