Glenn College to help develop interactive civics website

The Glenn College is partnering with the Capitol Square Foundation and iCivics to create an interactive website for students that will teach them about civics in Ohio. The Ohio website will feature Ohio-specific civics curriculum and will be available to all teachers and students in the state. It will be connected to the existing iCivics website, which contains civics curriculum on the federal government.

Traffic/parking

CABS spring break service

During spring break, CABS will run reduced bus service Monday (3/16)-Friday (3/20). The Campus Loop North, Campus Loop South, East Residential, Buckeye Village, and paratransit will operate on a reduced schedule and there will be no overnight service for Campus Loop North. The North Express will not run. Extended hours for East Residential will be suspended Friday (3/20)-Saturday (3/21) and will resume Friday (3/27). The Med Center Express and Martha Morehouse route will run on a normal schedule.

OHSAA state wrestling tournament

The university-hosted OHSAA state wrestling tournament is set for Thursday (3/12)-Saturday (3/14) at the Schottenstein Center. During the tournament, CX permit holders are encouraged to park in B or C spaces at the Ackerman complex. In addition, the Ohio Stadium, St. John Arena, French Field House, Ag Administration, Sisson, Animal Science, and Buckeye 4 and 5 Lots will be reserved for CampusParc permit holders only. Presentation of a valid event hangtag is required for entry into these lots.

Today: Project Narrative hosts Stefan Iversen

Project Narrative is hosting Stefan Iversen, University of Aarhus for a guest lecture, “’Just Because It Isn’t Happening Here Doesn’t Mean It Isn’t Happening’: Fictionality and Rhetorical Discourse,” today (3/9) at 4:30 p.m. in the Ohio Union, Creative Arts Room. This talk takes up the latter challenge by bringing the concept of fictionality into dialogue with the field of rhetorical criticism, a field mainly interested in public discourse.

On Tuesday (3/31), the Andes and Amazonia Working Group of the Humanities Institute will present Gary Van Valen, History, University of West Georgia, speaking on "Indigenous Language and Material Culture in the Bolivian Amazon: Change and Continuity among the Mojos, 1842-1932." Safe Zone Training

A free Safe Zone training will be offered by the Student Life Multicultural Center in the Rosa Ailabouni Room of the Ohio Union on Tuesday (3/10) at 1 p.m. This two-hour interactive workshop will guide participants through discussions and activities designed to increase understanding of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. All are welcome to attend.

Incorporating Writing into Online Teaching

Writing Across the Curriculum and UCAT are presenting “Incorporating Writing into Online Teaching” on Tuesday (3/13) from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in 150 Younkin Success Center. Learn how to effectively frame key learning tasks in online learning environments using writing. Workshop facilitators will share resources and connect participants with contacts who can help put their ideas into practice.
