Leading a growing university
Ohio State’s enrollment more than doubled during Howard Bevis’ 16 years in office, largely because the new president did not cap the number of students able to attend the university on the GI Bill. Ohio State’s Bevis Hall was named in his honor in 1969.

Moore receives distinguished alumni honor
Rustin Moore, executive associate dean in the College of Veterinary Medicine, executive director of the Veterinary Medical Center, and Bud and Marilyn Jenne Endowed Professor of Equine Medicine, has been inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni at West Virginia University. The academy honors WVU graduates who have attained distinction in their profession or discipline. Moore received his DVM (1989) and PhD (1993) in Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State and returned in 2006 as chair of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.

Students finish first in HR competition
Samantha Crum, Adela Devarajan, Dan Hilker and Chanelle Vessey students in the Master of Human Resource Management program won the Human Resource Invitational Case Competition at Fisher College of Business. Tasked with solving a challenge facing the Frito-Lay division of PepsiCo, a company known as a leader in HR practices, the group topped teams from Cornell University, University of Illinois, University of Minnesota and Rutgers University. Each year, Fisher brings students from premier HR programs to compete at the invitational.

Jefferson's Signature Series presents Aspen Trio
The Jefferson’s Signature Series will present the Ohio debut of the Aspen String Trio on Sunday (3/15) at the Columbus Museum of Art, performing Mozart, Beethoven and Martinu. A free program, “Meeting Music” for families with children, at 1 p.m. will precede the formal concert at 3 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the museum or by phone at 292-2693. The Jefferson’s Signature Series jointly operates a community music program with the School of Music. Tickets are $20 for OSU affiliates.

Free exhibition walk-in tours
Get the most out of your visit to the Wexner Center galleries with a walk-in tour. Tours are free with gallery admission (free on Thursday evenings). No registration required, just meet your docent at the gallery entrance on the appointed day and time. View highlights of “Fiber: Sculpture 1960-present” and “Hassan Hajjaj: My Rock Stars Experimental, Volume 1.” March tours are scheduled for Saturdays (3/14 and 3/28) at 1 p.m. and Thursday (3/19) at 6 p.m.

Physiology and Cell Biology Research Day
The Department of Physiology and Cell Biology Research Day will take place Thursday (3/19) from 9:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the BRT. Michael Sheetz, the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia University, will deliver the keynote Bozler Lecture, “Mechanosensing and Cancer,” from 10:30 a.m.-noon.

March 23: 'I'm Not a Racist, Am I?'
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Department of English are hosting a viewing of "I'm Not Racist, Am I?" and talk-back with the filmmakers on Monday (3/23): reception at 4:30 p.m., film viewing at 5:30 p.m. at the Mershon Auditorium. The feature documentary, about how this next generation is going to confront racism, follows the experiences of 12 New York City teenagers during one school year.

Delta Creation Studio March 20
The Distance Education Learning and Teaching Academy is hosting a Creation Studio event for faculty and staff who are creating online courses on Friday (3/20) at 10 a.m. in the Enarson Digital Union, where you will have access to cutting-edge software and equipment. ODEE instructional designers will guide you through the process and answer any questions as you create. Registration is required.

Ohio State football season and non-conference package tickets are currently on sale for eligible faculty and staff. Online ordering information was sent to eligible faculty and staff members via email on Monday (3/2). The deadline to submit an application for the 2015 football season is Tuesday (3/31).

Volunteer at April Ohio State golf tourneys
The Ohio State golf programs are hosting tournaments this spring and you can be a part of them. The men’s golf program is hosting the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on Saturday (4/11) and Sunday (4/12) and the women’s program is hosting the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on Saturday (4/18)-Sunday (4/19). Both tournaments will take place at the OSU Golf Club Scarlet Course.
