Headline newsOHIO STATE TRUSTEES TO MEET TODAYThe university’s Board of Trustees and its committees will meet today (4/6) at the Longaberger Alumni House. The schedule includes meetings of the Agricultural Affairs and Medical Center Affairs committees at 8 a.m., and the Fiscal and the Academic and Student Affairs committees at 9:30 a.m. The formal board meeting will begin at 10:45 a.m. in the Sanders Grand Lounge. The board will recess into executive session at noon, and there will be a meeting of the Audit Committee at 1:30 p.m.
OUAB NAMED BEST STUDENT PROGRAMMING BOARD IN THE NATIONThe Ohio Union Activities Board has earned the 2007 Programming Board of the Year award presented by Campus Activities magazine. OUAB was recognized for having very strong student involvement in selecting and presenting entertainment events as well as for the wide range of programming to suit diverse tastes. Network Spring Symposium from 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Saturday (4/7) at
the Drake Union. The daylong event is intended to foster new links
and strengthen already existing ones among members of the OSU community
doing research on language. Research groups from Computer Science and
Engineering; Entomology; French & Italian; Linguistics; Psychology;
Spanish & Portuguese; and Speech & Hearing will be presenting.

Fogel, 1993 Nobel Laureate in Economics, will deliver “Toward an Era of Longevity and Wealth” at Ohio State’s Edwin Smart Lecture/All-Ohio Economic History Seminar at 3 p.m. Monday (4/9) at the Blackwell Hotel and Conference Center. Fogel is the Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of American Institutions and the director of the Center for Population Economics at the University of Chicago. TELR is seeking proposals from faculty-undergraduate student partners to develop a multimedia research portfolio over summer quarter. Interdisciplinary teams are welcomed and encouraged. The Digital Union provides technology support and features the teams in a public, end-of-quarter showcase. Faculty can use the end product for recruitment, orientation, public relations, and further research.
