Headline newsFIRST UNIVERSITY CLEAN ENERGY ALLIANCE CONFERENCE APRIL 23Gov. Ted Strickland will address research leadership from Ohio State and 14 other Ohio universities at the inaugural University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio conference at 9:30 a.m. Monday (4/23) at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Strickland will discuss the importance of research and development of clean energy alternatives to the state. Following the governor’s remarks, university presidents and vice presidents of research will sign a memorandum of understanding to work collectively to study advanced alternative energy solutions. Read More > OSU BIKE PATH CLOSED DUE TO CONSTRUCTIONThe 1.5-mile Ohio State portion of the 12.75-mile Olentangy River Greenway bike path will be closed for the rest of spring quarter between Drake Union and King Avenue because of construction on the university’s electrical substation. Pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to recognize posted signage - this area is an extreme safety hazard due to heavy machinery and high voltage wires. Temporary safety fences have been installed for added safety. In addition to caution signs, alternate route maps have been posted. View the suggested alternate route online. Mendenhall Lab. The free public presentation is hosted by Technology
Enhanced Learning and Research and the Digital Union. Krebs' talk will
draw upon WeTEC's work across the curriculum to illustrate how the
center deploys mobile technologies in diverse campus and community
settings. Contact: 292-5574 ROTC CADETS FEATURED ON HISTORY CHANNEL TONIGHTOhio State Army ROTC Cadets will be on the History Channel’s popular television program “Mail Call,” due to air at 10 p.m. today (4/20). The episode will detail the U.S. Army’s ROTC program as a whole, with special emphasis and footage given to the Buckeye Battalion. ROTC is one source of officers for the Army and accounts for more than 70 percent of the total commissioned. The Buckeye Battalion supplies approximately 25 of the best and brightest to the ranks each year. OSU’s ROTC program started in the 1870s. Contact: 292-6075. Read More > TOOLS FOR EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH WORKSHOP APRIL 23Faculty & TA Development is sponsoring, in partnership with the Center for the Study of Teaching and Writing, Teaching Enhanced Learning and Research, and University Libraries, several teaching enhancement workshops. The next session, “Tools for Educational Research: Human Subjects and SoTL” will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday (4/23) in 150 Younkin Center. No registration is required. EXQUISITE ART OF GROWING OLD APRIL 24“The Exquisite Art of Growing Old: Writing Our Lives 2007,” a live art performance by Howling at the Moon will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday (4/24) at the Wexner Center Film and Video Theater. A reception will follow. Howling At The Moon is a company of eight women artists over 60 who write and perform their lives in live art readings. Read More > WEIGHT WATCHERS AT WORK MEETING APRIL 23The Lincoln Tower Weight Watchers at Work group open meeting will take place from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday (4/23) in 202 Lincoln Tower. All are welcome to attend. The next 10-week session begins Monday (4/30). Meetings are every Monday at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $100 for 10 sessions; new members also pay a one-time $10 enrollment fee. Weight Watchers at Work requires payment for all meetings in advance at the first meeting. For those enrolled in the OSU Health Plan, 50 percent of dues are reimbursable.
