Headline newsNASA ASTRONAUT TO DISCUSS FUTURE OF SPACE PROGRAM TODAYNASA astronaut Nancy J. Currie, deputy director of engineering at Johnson Space Center, will present a lecture at 4:30 p.m. today (4/27) in 1000 McPherson Hall. A retired Army Colonel and Master Army Aviator, Currie is responsible for providing engineering design and systems for human spaceflight programs including the Space Shuttle, International Space Station and Constellation. She received a bachelor's degree, with honors, in biological science from Ohio State in 1980. The event is hosted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and OSUFIRST Robotics. Contact: hawn.4@osu.edu BIO SCIENCES UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM TODAYThe public is invited to attend the annual Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Colloquium from 4-6 p.m. today (4/27) in the Drake Union Lounge. Poster presentations and judging will take place from 4-5:30 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony. Forty-five biological sciences undergraduates will present their research posters. In addition to faculty judges, three distinguished biological sciences alumni, Milan Jovanovic, P.C. Huang and Ru-chih Huang, will judge the students' work and provide feedback. AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL BEGINS APRIL 28A town hall meeting hosted by television personality Jeff Johnson, events benefiting AIDS research and the annual Greek step show highlight the events planned for the 2007 African American Heritage Festival, which begins Saturday (4/28) on the Ohio State campus. The theme for the 29th annual event, “Many Roots, One Tree,” was derived from the Swahili word Mzizi, meaning roots. The festival will conclude on Saturday (5/5). FISHER COLLEGE 5K TO AFFECT CAMPUS TRAFFIC APRIL 29The Fisher College of Business 5K is expected to affect campus traffic on Sunday (4/29). The race begins at 9 a.m. and loops around the OSU campus. Campus roads will close and reopen on a rolling basis; traffic will be allowed access when deemed safe for race participants. Impact to the university community is expected to be moderate. Read More > FINAL PHASE OF NINTH AVE GARAGE RENOVATION STARTS IN MAYWork crews will be adding a protective coating to the floor of the
Ninth Avenue Parking Garage from early May-August. To accommodate the
work, areas will be closed
in stages. No more than 200 parking spaces will be closed at a time
during peak daytime hours. During May, the garage will be closed from
6 p.m.-6 a.m. Alternate parking during evening hours is available
in the 11th and 12th Avenue garages, and the South and North Cannon
parking garages. There will be two-way traffic
on some of the ramps in the garage during the project. Read
