Headline newsLEADERSHIP NAMED FOR OHIO STATE'S MEDICAL CENTERSteven G. Gabbe, dean of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a national leader in academic medicine, has been named Senior Vice President for Health Sciences at Ohio State. Gabbe chaired the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Ohio State from 1987-1996, and held a similar position at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle for three years before becoming dean at Vanderbilt in 2001. At Vanderbilt, Gabbe increased National Institutes of Health grant funding by 77 percent and increased faculty size by 66 percent, to more than 1,800. He also has leadership roles with the Association of American Medical Colleges and National Institutes of Health. Read more >

associate professor of Psychology, Marion campus. TEST OF THE EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEMThere will be a test of the Buckeye Alert System at 7 p.m. Tuesday (4/8). At that time, the system will be activated and all Columbus campus telephones and any registered cellular telephones will begin to receive a voice or text message clearly identified as a test. Additionally, messages will be broadcast on the osu.edu Web site and through a mass e-mail to all Ohio State e-mail account holders. The test is being conducted to determine the effectiveness of the university’s emergency notification system.
