GenWex Presents: Reel Politics combines political discussion and film in an event especially for our young patrons. Scheduled for Thursday (5/1), the event kicks off with a reception and conversation hosted by two of Columbus’ leading young political figures: Mike Brown, press secretary for Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, and Jim Coleman of the environmental group Ohio’s Tomorrow. OVERVIEW OF RESEARCH ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN AFRICA APRIL 25

Overview of Research on Climate Change in Africa is the topic of discussion at this week's lunchtime lecture, presented by professors David Kraybill, director of the OSU Center for African Studies and Andrew Keeler of the John Glenn School of Public Affairs. TODAY: OTTOMAN HISTORY LECTURE SERIES FEATURES LILY FRIERSON

Professor Lily Frierson of the University of Cincinnati will present "Broken Home: Istanbul/Constantinople during World War I" at 4:30 p.m. today (4/23) in 160 Jennings Hall as part of the spring Ottoman History Lecture Series. Frierson began studying the Middle East and North Africa after she noticed the gap between reality in the Middle East and U.S. perceptions of the region in the early 1980s. CHADWICK ARBORETUM TO HOST ARBOR DAY EVENT APRIL 25

The public is invited to celebrate Arbor Day with Ohio State at 10 a.m. Friday (4/25). The free event, sponsored by Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens, will take place at Arboretum North, north of Lane Avenue and west of Fred Taylor Drive near the new Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. The event will feature a tree dedication, honoring the retirement of OSU Extension assistant director Steve Baertsche and OSU Extension horticulturist Jane Martin. FACULTY CLUB ART AUCTION SET FOR FRIDAY

The Faculty Club's fourth annual charity art auction on Friday (4/25) will include approximately 150 artworks and university collectible items. The preview and silent auction will start at 6 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. John Behling, professor emeritus of social work and a watercolor artist, is the auction's honorary chair. Read more >

TELR's Third Annual Five Minutes of Fame, a fast-paced, show and tell, celebrates Ohio State's creative eLearning achievements. OSC OFFERS PERFORMANCE TUNING FOR MULTI-CORE ARCHITECTURES

The Ohio Supercomputer Center on West Campus is hosting a workshop, Performance Tuning for Multi-Core Architectures, from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesday (5/14)-Thursday (5/15) at OSC. The workshop provides an overview of performance tuning techniques for the new generation of multi-core processors, such as those used in OSC's Glenn system. VET MED COURSE TO COVER EQUINE VETERINARY EMERGENCIES

The College of Veterinary Medicine is offering the second session of a new series of continuing education courses tailored to equine owners, breeders and caretakers. This session will cover equine veterinary emergencies. Equine faculty from Ohio State's Galbreath Equine Center will present information on what to do in case your horse has a medical emergency.
