Recognizing excellence

Provost’s Award honors three lecturers

Three lecturers have been honored with the 2014 Provost’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer, and were recognized at a reception Monday (4/21) alongside winners of awards for faculty teaching, faculty service and for scholarship. Ohio State instituted the universitywide award last year to recognize outstanding lecturers, senior lecturers and other auxiliary faculty on all campuses who, in the past three years, have taught undergraduate and/or graduate/professional students.

This year’s honorees — Lisa Cravens-Brown, Psychology; Richard Daley, Law; and Anthony Shoup, Physics — were inducted into the Academy of Teaching, which provides leadership for the improvement of teaching at Ohio State, and also are recognized with an honorarium made possible by the Office of Academic Affairs.

April 29 Public Seminar: Ohio Energy Policy Analysis

The Center for Resilience has analyzed the past and future economic and environmental benefits resulting from the renewable energy and efficiency provisions of Ohio Senate Bill 221. Sponsored by Ohio Advanced Energy Economy, the analysis found that the bill has already reduced energy costs for Ohio ratepayers, and that proposals to weaken its provisions would result in higher energy bills, fewer jobs and increased emissions over the coming decade. Interested parties are invited to attend a public seminar at the Ohio Statehouse at noon Tuesday (4/29).
