Headline newsBROWN RECEIVES FULBRIGHT-HAYS FACULTY RESEARCH ABROAD GRANTPhillip Brown, OSU associate professor of History is the recipient
of the prestigious Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad grant. The
grant will allow him to spend a year in Japan. Brown’s research
project, “Coping with Disaster: Civil Engineering, Floods and
Landslides in the Modernization of Japan” analyzes societies'
response to the hazards through a study of Niigata prefecture, home
of Japan's longest river, the Shinano. Brown is the first successful
OSU faculty Fulbright-Hays recipient since 2000. To learn about Fulbright-Hays

OSU dancers will perform in the evening event, which spotlights the Vernon Reid Project and Trisha Brown's Set and Reset/Reset. The Vernon Reid Project is rock and roll, up close and live, with 27 dancers and the musicians in Reid's New York band Masque giving a powerful performance. RETIRING PROFESSOR CLOSES OSU NEWARK LECTURE SERIES TODAYOhio State Newark will conclude its 2006-07 Faculty Lecture Series with a lecture by Sara Staats, professor of psychology, at 7 p.m. today (5/3) in the Reese Center Ballroom. Read More > WRITING CENTER OFFERS DISSERTATION WRITING GROUPSWriting Center groups are open to Ph.D. students and candidates in any discipline who are writing their dissertation. Each group will have 2-4 writers and meet one hour per week at an appointed time, determined by their availability. The meetings are designed to help students stay motivated, find out what other Ph.D. students are doing, and get careful, individualized feedback on work from colleagues and a WC Consultant simultaneously. Several improvements were recently made to the confidential online questionnaire making it easier for Ohio State employees to get a complete picture of their health, including the automatic entry of health screening results from one of the free campus PHA screening events into the PHA questionnaire. Read More > OSU STUDENTS TO PRESENT ANNUAL SPRING MUSICAL FOR CHARITYOhio State’s entirely student-run musical theater group, Off the Lake Productions, is presenting its annual spring musical, “Children of Eden” at 8 p.m. May 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 in Hitchcock Hall. Admission is an imperishable food item, which will be donated to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
