Headline newsTRUSTEES CONSIDER LOWEST TUITION INCREASE IN 21 YEARSThe Ohio State Board of Trustees heard a first reading of the 2007-08 tuition proposal at their meeting Friday (5/4) that reflects the biennial state budget bill approved unanimously this week by the Ohio House of Representatives. The House Bill, which now heads for the Senate, calls for a 3 percent cap on resident undergraduate tuition in FY 2008 and a tuition freeze the following year. Tuition and fees for resident undergraduate students on the Columbus campus are proposed to rise from $8,667 to $8,928 for a three-quarter academic year, making it the lowest percentage increase in 21 years. OSU HAS STRONG BIO 2007 CONVENTION PRESENCEThe OSU Medical Center, and the colleges of Veterinary Medicine; Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences; Pharmacy; and Engineering are in Boston for the International BIO 2007 convention, Sunday (5/6)-Wednesday (5/9). Led by the Office of Research’s Technology Licensing and Commercialization team, Ohio State has staffed an exhibit representing each college’s research capabilities and the available technologies (licensing opportunities) to the world’s leading biotech companies. MARX-SCOURAS TO PRESENT HUMANITIES INAUGURAL LECTURE TODAYDanielle Marx-Scouras, OSU professor of French, will deliver “Rock the Hexagon: Popular Music and Identity Politics in Contemporary France” at 4:30 p.m. today (5/7) at the Faculty Club. The lecture is part of the College of Humanities Inaugural Lecture Series that honors Humanities faculty who have obtained the rank of full professor, and provides the opportunity to present their work and research interests to fellow college faculty and other university guests. a workshop, “Drawing to Learn: Visual Communication Across the

and Amy Mecklenburg-Faenger (English) will discuss visual composing
