SEARCH COMMITTEE FOR CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER NAMED

UNIVERSITY TRUSTEES TO MEET MAY 31, JUNE 1

The Ohio State Board of Trustees and its committees will meet Thursday (5/31) and Friday (6/1) at the Longaberger Alumni House. The Thursday schedule includes meetings of the Medical Center Affairs Committee from 3-4 p.m., the Investments Committee from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and the Audit Committee from 4:30-6 p.m. The board will convene at 6 p.m. and recess into executive session, which will include dinner. Friday’s schedule includes committee meetings of Academic and Student Affairs and Fiscal Affairs from 7:30-9 a.m. The formal board meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and recess for an executive session at 10:15 a.m. The meeting will reconvene from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A lunch for Distinguished University Professors will immediately follow.

TROUBLING STUDENTS IN YOUR CLASSROOM PANEL DISCUSSION MAY 30

In the wake of the recent tragic events at Virginia Tech, many faculty, TAs and college staff across the nation are struggling with a host of issues related to student welfare as well as safety and security in the classroom. “When You Have Troubling Students in Your Classroom: A Panel Discussion” will take place from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday (5/30) in 300 Younkin Success Center. The panel includes Chief Paul Denton, Campus Police; Louise Douce, director, Counseling & Consultation Service; Kashif Khan, coordinator, Asian American Student Services; Sarah Newlin, program manager, Campus Suicide Prevention Program; Michael Wright, Registrar’s Office (FERPA); and Laurie Maynell, Kathryn Plank and Bernadette Vankeerbergen, FTAD. UNIVERSITY SUMMER HOURS BEGIN JUNE 11

University summer hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. will begin on Monday (6/11). Hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. will resume on Tuesday (9/4). Many offices that serve students or the public remain open on Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. These offices should stay open on an as needed basis. However, if the decision is to discontinue extended hours for summer quarter, the official extended hours will resume on the first Wednesday of autumn quarter. These offices are responsible for communicating extended hours and any schedule changes to their customers. Please communicate this information to members of your college or administrative unit.

OSU LIMA PLANS SPRING CHORAL CONCERT

The University Chorus will perform its annual Spring Choral Concert at 8 p.m. Thursday (5/31) at St. Johns Catholic Church on South Main Street. The concert is free and open to the public. The choir is directed by Richard Mallonee, director of Choral Programs at Ohio State Lima. Michael Benson, music lecturer, will accompany the chorus. FREE OSU NEWARK CONCERT PROMISES FAMILY FUN

The public is invited to share a lively evening filled with music and fun as the Child Development Center at the Ohio State Newark welcomes children’s singer/songwriter and author Debbie Clement for a free concert from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday (5/31) in the Reese Center Auditorium. The concert is especially appropriate for families with children who are pre-school to early elementary age.
