Headline newsANXIETY, MOOD DISORDERS PUT CANCER PATIENTS AT RISK FOR PTSDBreast cancer patients who have a prior history of mood and anxiety disorders are at a much higher risk of experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder following their diagnosis, new research suggests. A study of 74 breast cancer patients at the OSU Medical Center found that 16 percent of them suffered from PTSD 18 months after diagnosis. The findings suggest that doctors should screen newly diagnosed breast cancer patients for past mood disorders. Read more >

Read more > EASC ASIAN WRITERS SERIES FEATURES AKU WUWU TODAYThe East Asian Studies Center Asian Writers Series is presenting a reading of Nuosu Language Poetry by Aku Wuwu, professor of ethnic minority studies at the Southwest Nationalities University, Chengdu, Sichuan at 4 p.m. today (5/7) in 180 Hagerty Hall. Wuwu (aka Luo Qingchun) is a performance poet of the Nuosu (Yi) people of the Cool Mountains of Southwest China. He will read from his corpus of Nuosu language poetry accompanied in English translation by professor Mark Bender. Thiran is currently active in the analysis and design of wireless multi-hop networks and in network monitoring. Bloom’s first book of nonfiction, Normal: Transsexual CEOs, Crossdressing Cops, and Hermaphrodites with Attitude, is an exploration of the varieties of gender. Her latest publication, Away (2007), was nominated for Book Sense Book of the Year.
