Headline newsOSU MED STUDENTS TURN A WHIM INTO A NATIONAL FUNDRAISERSix Ohio State bicyclists are participating in the 3,700-mile Ride for World Health, to help bring awareness to the disparities in worldwide medical care. The group started pedaling on Sunday (4/6) in San Diego and will wrap up the journey Tuesday (5/27) in Washington, DC. Along the way, they’ll make a stop in Columbus on Monday (5/19) to celebrate Global Health Day at the OSU Medical Center, where the Ride for World Health was conceptualized about 4 1/2 years ago. View a list of award recipients HANDS-ONLY CPR SIMPLIFIES SAVING LIVES FOR BYSTANDERSChest compressions alone, or Hands-Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, can save lives and can be used to help an adult who suddenly collapses, according to a new American Heart Association scientific statement. The statement, from the association’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care committee, chaired by Michael Sayre, associate professor in OSU's Department of Emergency Medicine, is published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES PRESENTS EN LA PUTA VIDA MAY 14The Center for Latin American Studies continues to feature young Latin American women film makers with a presentation of En la puta vida (Tricky Life) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (5/14) in Hagerty Hall. The main character Elisa dreams of opening her own hairdressing salon in one of the rich districts of the Uruguayan capital. NAKED SUNFISH CONTRIBUTORS HIGHLIGHT MAY 15 READALOUDBack by popular demand, the OSU Libraries is presenting another Naked Sunfish ReadAloud from 3-4 p.m. Thursday (5/15) in the Wexner Center Cafe. Rick Brown, editor of Naked Sunfish and fellow contributors to the popular e-magazine including avant-garde poet John Bennett and Marilou Suszko, featured author at this year’s Ohioana Book Festival, will share highlights from their own work. Read more > ACCAD OPEN HOUSE MAY 16The Advanced Computing Center for the Arts & Design will host its annual Open House from 4-7 p.m. Friday (5/16) at the ACCAD building, 1224 Kinnear Road on West Campus. ACCAD is an academic research center for computer animation and interactive media. Visitors will observe and interact at their own pace, as faculty, staff and graduate students provide demonstrations of current thesis and research work, along with interdisciplinary project collaborations.
