OARDC TO HOST NATIONAL BIOTECH CONFERENCE IN COLUMBUS

The nation’s agricultural biotechnology experts will convene in Ohio Tuesday (6/3)-Thursday (6/5) to discuss the role this industry will play in the future of renewable fuels, energy and industrial products. Ohio State's Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center is hosting the 20th annual meeting of the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Columbus. ENGINEERING STUDENTS HOLD ROBOT COMPETITION MAY 22

First-year engineering students will test robots they designed and built in a competition to simulate a mission where robots complete tasks at a research station in Antarctica, from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday (5/22) in St. John Arena. DEPARTMENTS MERGE TO BECOME OFFICE OF THE UNIVERSITY BURSAR

The offices of Fees and Deposits, Student Loan Services and Accounts Receivable have merged to become the Office of the University Bursar, which bills and collects tuition, fees, campus housing, and other university-related charges. The office also invoices third-party agencies, audits OSU student accounts, processes student refunds, oversees university and Perkins/Health Professions promissory notes and exit interviews. The office is responsible for university accounts receivable collection activities for both university departments and Perkins/Health Professions loans. OSU PHOTO ARCHIVES LAUNCHES TWO NEW IMAGE GALLERIES

The University Photo Archives has created two new online Web galleries, the Bradford Lantern Slides and Centennial Image Galleries. The Bradford Lantern Slides Gallery is a selection of hand colored glass slides, created by former OSU professor and University Architect Joseph Bradford, that depict life in the early years of the university. The Centennial Image Gallery has been expanded by adding images from the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Contact: drobik.5@osu.edu

ANNUAL OSU SPORTS MEDICINE RESEARCH DAY MAY 23

Physicians, professors and researchers from the OSU Sports Medicine Center will present sports medicine research conducted at OSU during the second annual OSU Sports Medicine Research Day, from 7-10:30 a.m. Friday (5/23) in 115 Biomedical Research Tower. The program includes 12 presentations, discussions and research poster displays. Approved for continuing education credit. Registration is free but seating is limited. TSENG TO DELIVER WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS TALK MAY 22

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is hosting an event with OSU alumnus Yu-Chee Tseng at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (5/22) in 480 Dreese Labs. Chairman of the Computer Science Department and associate dean of the College of Computer Science at National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, Tseng will deliver a Distinguished Guest Lecture on "Wireless Sensor Networks: Applications, Protocols, and Deployment." AUTISM AWARENESS KICKOFF MAY 22 ON SOUTH OVAL

Faculty, staff and students are invited to an Autism Awareness kickoff from 4-6 p.m. Thursday (5/22) on the South Oval. This is the first event in preparation for the Autism Walk to be held on Sunday (10/12) at the Schottenstein Center. Enjoy entertainment and free food. MIT PROFESSOR TO DISCUSS BEHAVIORAL DECISION MAKING MAY 22

Dan Ariely, the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Behavioral Economics at MIT and author of the New York Times best-seller Predictably Irrational will be on campus on Thursday (5/22) for two presentations in 35 Psychology Building. "Beer, Vinegar, Energy Drinks, and Painkillers: The Influence of Expectations on Experiences" will take place at noon; "(Dis)honesty" begins at 3 p.m. No RSVP is necessary. OSU HEARING PROFESSIONALS OPEN HOUSE MAY 22, 23S

To celebrate Better Speech and Hearing Month, OSU Hearing Professionals is hosting an open house from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday (5/22) and Friday (5/23) at the Dublin location (565 Metro Place South, Suite 400). Participants are invited to have a free hearing screening, learn more about hearing aids, and if appropriate receive a listening demonstration of the latest digital hearing aid technology. 2008-09 KINDERGARTEN OPENINGS AT THE CHILD CARE PROGRAM

The Ohio State Child Care Program has kindergarten enrollment available for fall 2008. Chartered by the State of Ohio, the kindergarten program follows the model curriculum and requirements for teacher certification set forth by the State of Ohio and features partnerships with several Ohio State colleges that provide math, dance, music, and physical education instruction. Kindergarten is blended with childcare services - children may come to the kindergarten room as early as 7 a.m. and stay as late as 6 p.m. Registration for the 2008-09 school year is underway.
