The nation’s agricultural biotechnology experts will convene in Ohio Tuesday (6/3)-Thursday (6/5) to discuss the role this industry will play in the future of renewable fuels, energy and industrial products. Ohio State's Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center is hosting the 20th annual meeting of the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Columbus. The loss of surface parking spaces and the occurrence of road closures/detours during summer quarter construction will impact daily parking availability and may create a ripple effect in other areas of campus as customers relocate to new areas. Many projects, including the temporary closure of College Road between 17th Avenue and 12th Avenue, the two week closure of the Ohio Union Garage, and the temporary closure of the South French Field House Lot for repaving will begin on Monday (6/9). Re-visioning Asian American History: A Multi Media Symposium is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday (6/2) in 145 Hagerty Hall. The paper presentations and digital narratives will incorporate the fields of Asian Studies, Disability Studies, Early Modern U.S. History, Latino/a Studies and Theatre Studies, as well as Women’s Gender History. The Office of Research Training, Education, and Communication will present Complex Agreements: NCURA TV Broadcast Series from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday (6/10) in 105 Biological Research Tower and 113 Research Foundation. The program will focus on the multiple challenges encountered in translational research i.e., turning research results into products or public use. Discussion topics include non-standard agreements, areas of risk, institutional and individual conflict of interest, and protection of human subjects. Register online
The OSU Center for Family Research is hosting two events at COSI from 7-8 p.m. today (5/30). Successful Students Strong Families Booster Session, Help from Home: Ways to Influence School Success will take place in the Central High Exploration Space at COSI. Meet in front of Adventure at 6:55 p.m. for the second event, Youth Portion in Adventure. Siblings and other family members are welcome, under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. CABS Summer Quarter Service begins Friday (6/6) and runs through Sunday (9/21). During this time, CABS will run reduced bus service Monday-Friday, with no service overnight, on the weekends, and on university holidays. The Department of Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Center is hosing its annual Spring Sidewalk Sale from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday (5/31) at the OAC, on West Campus at 855 Woody Hayes Drive. An array of used outdoor equipment will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Items include kayaks, canoes, tents, sleeping bags, and more. Contact: 247-8680
