For the students and teachers at Cranbrook Elementary, a small school within walking distance of campus, a good idea hatched by employees in the business operations arm of Ohio State’s Office of Business and Finance has germinated into a fruitful partnership. University hours for summer 2009 begin June 15
University summer hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. will be implemented effective Monday (6/15). Regular hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. will resume on Tuesday (9/8). Offices that remain open later hours to serve students or the public should stay open on an as needed basis. If the decision is to discontinue extended hours for summer quarter, official extended hours will resume autumn quarter. These offices are responsible for communicating extended hours and any schedule changes to their customers.
CDC warns of possible international travel delays
International Affairs wishes to inform the OSU community that the Center for Disease Control recently issued an announcement that advises travelers of possible international travel delays due to H1N1 health screening procedures being implemented in some foreign destinations. Airport staff in some countries may check the health of arriving passengers to help prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus. If you are traveling to an international destination, please carefully review the information posted by the CDC at http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/content/news-announcements/delays-H1N1-screening.aspx.
Office of Research: Limited Submission Research Funding Opportunity Programs
- The NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program is announcing a call for proposals that is separate from the standard January submission deadline. Awards will be funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and have special award conditions. University Police join Click It or Ticket Campaign
The OSU Police Division is partnering with more than 900 local law enforcement agencies in Ohio by participating in the 2009 Click It or Ticket Campaign, which runs through Sunday (5/31). OSU Police will foster awareness of seatbelt laws through education and increased enforcement. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently estimated that Ohio would save 57 lives, 1,386 serious injuries and $263 million in costs each year if the seat belt use rate went up by seven percentage points (to 90 percent). Pharmacogenomics: Paving the Way to Improved Drug Development and Healthcare May 28
Michael Phillips, associate professor, Universite de Montreal, and director of the Pharmacogenomics Centre, Montreal Heart Institute, will deliver "Pharmacogenomics: Paving the Way to Improved Drug Development and Healthcare," from noon-1 p.m. Thursday (5/28) in 234 Meiling Hall. The event is presented by the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine and the Center for Personalized Health Care. RSVP is not required. May 23: OSU ROTC hosts Mendoza Memorial 5K on campus
The Ray Mendoza Memorial 5K, sponsored by OSU ROTC, will take place on campus on Saturday (5/23). Registration is at 7:30 a.m.; race begins at 8:30 a.m. The event begins and ends on College Road near Page Hall; College Road between Woody Hayes Drive and 12th Avenue will be closed. Reminder: Faculty and staff football ticket deadline May 29
The deadline to pay invoices online for the 2009 faculty/staff football split and full season tickets is Friday (5/29). The faculty/staff away game ticket sale will be conducted Thursday (6/11) online only at http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com beginning at 6 p.m. Away game tickets are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible for away game tickets, you must purchase 2009 football full or split season tickets. Limit two tickets, per game, per season ticket holder. Rec Sports facilities open throughout Memorial Day weekend
Recreational Sports facilities will be open daily throughout the Memorial Day Weekend. Whether you are a member or non-member, feel free to squeeze in a workout, take a dip in the pool or visit one of the outdoor parks. Anyone can use the outdoor facilities, and faculty and staff who are not current Rec Sports members may purchase a guest pass and sponsor up to one additional guest to use the indoor facilities.
