Temporary relocation: Board of Trustees office

Youth Summer Music Programs at Ohio State
Registration is open for the 10 offerings that make up the Youth Summer Music Programs at Ohio State, including three daytime offerings for younger musicians: "Summer Singers" (June 4-10), "Morning String Student Workshop" (June 12-28) and "Middle School Concert Band Academy" (June 25-30). High school-aged musicians are served by the remaining offerings, including a number of residential programs. A stroke occurs every 40 seconds — do you know your risk? Free stroke risk screenings will be offered every Wednesday throughout May from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Brain and Spine Hospital lobby, 300 W. 10th Ave. No appointment necessary. Traveling this summer? Get the facts on the Zika virus
If you are planning to travel to a Zika-affected area this summer, know how to keep yourself and others healthy before you go. Zika, a disease spread primarily through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito, has been found in multiple countries and some areas of the United States. Sexual transmission of Zika virus is well documented, and the CDC continues to update advice related to ways to prevent transmission of Zika and the locations where Zika virus is actively spreading.

OSC to host XSEDE Big Data, Deep Learning workshop
The Ohio Supercomputer Center will serve as a satellite location for an XSEDE Big Data workshop Thursday (5/18) and Friday (5/20) 11 a.m.-5 p.m. This workshop is an expansion of the previous Big Data workshops and includes Machine Learning using GPUs and Deep Learning techniques. The workshops will also focus on topics such as an introduction to Big Data, Hadoop and Spark.

Waivers/alteration of informed consent workshop
The Office of Responsible Research Practices and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science are offering an intermediate level workshop that will provide an overview of informed consent alteration and waivers and regulatory definitions with accompanying case examples. Buck-IRB navigation and best practices/available resources also will be discussed. While the session will be tailored to medical researchers, anyone preparing IRB submissions is welcome. The workshop will be held Tuesday (5/16) 8-9 a.m. in the Clinical Skills Education and Assessment Center, 620 Prior Health Sciences Library, 376 W. 10th Ave.

The OSU OB/GYN department is taking part in a clinical research trial to study the safety and effectiveness of an investigational oral contraceptive pill. To participate, you must be 16-50 years old, a heterosexual female, in good physical and mental health and a non-smoker (if 35 or older).
