BAESLACK TO BE NAMED INTERIM EXECUTIVE DEAN OF PROFESSIONAL COLLEGE CLUSTERS

Dean of Engineering William (Bud) Baeslack has been recommended to the Board of Trustees to be named Interim Executive Dean of the professional college cluster for a period of one year, beginning Sunday (7/1). A formal announcement will be released following today’s regularly scheduled board meeting.

UNIVERSITY TRUSTEES TO MEET TODAY

The Ohio State Board of Trustees and its committees will meet today (6/1) at the Longaberger Alumni House. The schedule includes committee meetings of Academic and Student Affairs and Fiscal Affairs from 7:30-9 a.m. The formal board meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and recess for an executive session at 10:15 a.m. The meeting will reconvene from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A lunch for distinguished university professors will immediately follow.

REGISTER FOR WEB APPLICATION SECURITY WORKSHOP

The Office of the CIO is sponsoring a Web Application Security Workshop from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday (6/11) and Tuesday (6/12) in 140 Pfahl Hall. The workshop covers the techniques and challenges of securing Web applications in a hands-on approach to the latest practices and tools in Web application design and security. The deadline to register is Wednesday (6/6) and the workshop fee is $500 per person. A laptop computer is required and the workshop is limited to 120 participants. DIGITAL PROJECT SHOWCASE TODAY

The Peer Library Tutors of the OSU Libraries are presenting a showcase of digital projects from 1-2:30 p.m. today (6/1) at the Sullivant Library Learning Commons, 1813 N. High St. The multimedia presentations were created by the tutors over the past few months, and cover a variety of topics. Enjoy refreshments and the opportunity to talk with the creators of the projects. Contact: webb.45@osu.edu

OSU COLLABORATION PROGRAM TO BUILD LABS AT COSI

In response to the great need for increased understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math disciplines among the student population, the College of Education and Human Ecology is leading a plan to develop working research laboratories at COSI to be used by OSU researchers. The laboratories are envisioned as sites for research activity while also allowing for viewing by and interaction with COSI audiences, thereby engaging the public in understanding science. CONFLICT OF INTEREST BROADCAST WORKSHOP JUNE 12

The Office of Research Training, Education, and Communication is hosting a video workshop, “Conflict of Interest: How to Spot and Manage It,” from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday (6/12). The session will be of particular interest to department chairs and college research officers who are charged with implementing conflict of interest procedures at OSU. The panelists will discuss strategies for identifying, reviewing and managing potential conflicts of interest and will offer their perspectives on implementing institutional programs. AFPW LUNCHEON TO DISCUSS STATUS OF WOMEN AT OSU

Deb Ballam, director of The Women’s Place, will present information on the status of women at Ohio State and offer ways for women to get involved on campus and beyond, at the next Association of Faculty and Professional Women luncheon on Monday (6/18) at the Faculty Club. Doors will open at 11:15 a.m., and a lunch buffet and networking will begin at 11:30 a.m. The registration deadline is Friday (6/8). Download a registration form at http://afpw.osu.edu. RECREATIONAL SPORTS OFFERS FREE WEEK

All faculty and staff with a valid university ID are invited to use the recreational facilities for free from Monday (6/4)-Sunday (6/10).
