Headline newsHOLBROOK STATEMENT ON OHIO SENATE INITIATIVES ON HIGHER EDUCATION FUNDINGPresident Karen Holbrook issued the following statement after the
Senate restored more than $200 million in additional funds, mainly
aimed at higher education, state development and programs for the poor,
to the new two-year state budget on Tuesday (6/5):
GROUND BROKEN ON NEW NEIGHBORHOOD POLICING CENTERGround will be broken today (6/7) on construction of a new Neighborhood Policing Center in the University District, the result of a joint commitment between Ohio State and the city of Columbus to strengthen neighborhood safety and community ties. President Karen Holbrook and Mayor Michael Coleman will participate in the ceremony. Located at 248 E. 11th Ave. between Summit and North Fourth streets, the $4.4 million facility will serve as the new Columbus police substation for Precinct 4 and will include permanent office space for University Police, Community Crime Patrol and a Neighborhood Pride Center. The retreat is designed to bring together investigators from the OSU campus that have an interest in infectious diseases and host-pathogen interactions. High St. Sue Howson, Central Ohio Agency on Aging, will present an overview of the resources available to older adults and their family members. This will include basic eligibility and services information about the PASSPORT program, Franklin County Senior Options, the Assisted Living program and other resources in the area.
