Headline newsCOMMENCEMENT TO TAKE PLACE SUNDAYFormer President Bill Clinton will address more than 7,500 students
earning degrees during Ohio State’s spring commencement on Sunday
(6/10) in Ohio Stadium. Clinton and President Karen Holbrook are among
seven individuals to be honored for their contributions to society
and academics, and their dedication to the university. Ceremonies begin
at 1 p.m. The ceremony can be viewed live online at www.wosu.org/tv/osu-commencement/.
PASKETT HEADS PATIENT NAVIGATION RESEARCH PROGRAM STUDYElectra Paskett, associate director for population sciences of the
OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center, is coordinating a clinical trial in
Columbus to study whether specially trained “navigators” can
help patients negotiate the health system and, ultimately, reduce cancer
deaths and improve quality of life. The American Cancer Society is
funding the four-year, $1.4 million study at Ohio State, which will
involve 1,200 patients. Patient enrollment began earlier this year.
The National Cancer Institute also has funded eight other cancer centers
nationwide to participate in the same study as part of its Patient
Navigation Research Program. Contact: Eileen.Scahill@osumc.edu OHIO UNION GARAGE TO CLOSE JUNE 11Phase two of the Ohio Union Garage Restoration and Expansion project begins Monday (6/11), which entails a complete garage closure. All vehicles need to be removed from the garage by midnight on Sunday (6/10). Vehicles left in the garage after this time will be removed at the owner’s expense. During the closure, BG1 and CG1 keycards will be programmed to work in the 11th Avenue garage as an alternative parking location. Hourly parking will be available in the Arps, Neil Avenue, 12th Avenue, and Tuttle Park Place garages. The garage will reopen in late September. Contact: tpinfo@osu.edu or 292-9341. educational courses licensed by the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative
that can be used to supplement required human subjects training. The
following new courses are available for use by all faculty, staff,
and students: Good Clinical Practice and ICH, Health Information Privacy
and Security, International Research, and Responsible Conduct of Research.
Completion of the CITI Basic Course is a prerequisite for taking the
course on Good Clinical Practice. The session will provide women education and guidance to help make the right investment choices. Contact: 292-0969 UNIVERSITY SUMMER HOURS FOR 2007University summer hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. will be implemented effective Monday (6/11). Hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. will resume on Tuesday (9/4). Many offices that serve students or the public remain open on Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. These offices should stay open on an as needed basis. However, if the decision is to discontinue extended hours for summer quarter, the official extended hours will resume on the first Wednesday of autumn quarter. These offices are responsible for communicating extended hours and any schedule changes to their customers. Please communicate this information to members of your college or administrative unit.
