Ohio State wide receiver Brian Robiskie is one of three male finalists for the 2008 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar of the Year award, announced recently by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine. He finished as second runner-up for the male Sports Scholar of the Year award, the first time an Ohio State student-athlete has been a finalist since the national awards program began 15 years ago. Student Affairs and the Alumni Association are partnering to provide a series of events today (6/2)-Saturday (6/7) to honor all undergraduate, graduate and professional students that will complete their degrees this spring. Students are invited to "Chalk the Walk" by autographing the Long Walk on the Oval after their last final exam. Other events will include a celebration in the South Campus Gateway, a Things You Never Got to See Tour of little-known places on campus, and a post-Commencement Rehearsal tailgate social. For the past few years, this band of dedicated volunteers has been distributing colorful, handmade quilts to women receiving chemotherapy at the Comprehensive Breast Health Center located at the JamesCare in Dublin. To date, more than 1,200 of these lap quilts - most measuring 4 feet by 5 feet - have been handed out, along with a cloth tote bag, a journal and some information about the James Stitching Sisters and other support resources available. Re-visioning Asian American History: A Multi Media Symposium is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. today (6/2) in 145 Hagerty Hall. The paper presentations and digital narratives will incorporate the fields of Asian Studies, Disability Studies, Early Modern U.S. History, Latino/a Studies and Theatre Studies, as well as Women’s Gender History. Toshiaki Taoka, associate professor and vice chair of radiology, Nara Medical University in Japan, is the guest lecturer for the next Radiology Grand Rounds at noon Friday (6/6) in 115 Biomedical Research Tower. Taoka is well-known for his pioneer research in MR Diffusion Tensor Tractography for various pathological processes. Taoka's colleague, Toshiteru Miyasaka will present the newest CT technology, the Dual Source CT and its non-invasive applications. This summer, the Undergraduate Research Office will be launching a Summer Undergraduate Research Institute with activities open to all undergraduate students who will be at OSU during summer quarter and involved in research activity. CABS Summer Quarter Service begins Friday (6/6) and runs through Sunday (9/21). During this time, CABS will run reduced bus service Monday-Friday, with no service overnight, on the weekends, and on university holidays.
