OIT Walk-In Services Move to Central Classroom Building. On Friday (6/13), OIT is relocating walk-in customer services to 025 Central Classroom Building from 512 Baker Systems Engineering. The area is renamed the IT Service Desk. The consolidated location encompasses OIT's customer services and the Telecommunications and Networking cellular sales and support. Limited services will be available during the move, scheduled for Friday (6/6)-Thursday (6/12). Contact for the IT Service Desk will remain the same. Read more >

MORE THAN ISSUES, CANDIDATES HURT DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL AMBITIONS IN 2000, 2004

A new book analyzing the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections in the United States provides some of the clearest evidence to date about why George W. Bush captured the White House and the Democratic candidates failed. While Bill Clinton’s campaign in 1992 famously used the phrase “It’s the economy, stupid” to highlight what they thought was the biggest issue in that campaign, the biggest issue in the 2000 and 2004 campaigns may have been the candidates themselves, said Herb Weisberg, OSU professor of political science. HEALTH INSURANCE AND LONG TERM CARE WORKSHOPS FOR MEMBERS OF OPERS, STRS AND SERS. This program will explore your current health care plans as well as those available at retirement through PERS, STRS and SERS pensions. The workshop will also cover Medicare Parts A&B, Medicare HMOs and other private insurance options such as health care savings accounts (HSAs) and the long term health care insurance plans offered through the STRS, PERS and SERS systems. OHIO STATE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO MEET JUNE 5-6

Ohio State's Board of Trustees and its committees will meet Thursday (6/5) and Friday (6/6) at the Longaberger Alumni House. Committee meetings will occur at various times on Thursday. On Friday, the formal board meeting will convene at 8:30 a.m. at Longaberger Alumni House, and recess into executive session from 8:30 a.m.-noon. COMMENCEMENT EVE CEREMONY TO HONOR GRADUATES AND FAMILIES

The inaugural Commencement Eve Candlelight Ceremony, set for 9 p.m. Saturday (6/7) on the Oval, will honor spring graduates and their families with remarks from President E. Gordon Gee, Archie Griffin, and senior Michael Repasky, who was selected through a competitive audition process to represent the graduating class. Graduates attending the ceremony will also receive their class pin and participate in a candlelight rendition of Carmen Ohio. STONE LAB GUEST LECTURE SERIES KICKS OFF JUNE 12

Chris Korleski, director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will kick off the summer Stone Laboratory Guest Lecture Series on Thursday (6/12) with “Global Warming: Science or Religion." All lectures are from 7:45-9 p.m. at Stone Lab, located at Gibraltar Island in Lake Erie. Members of the public are welcome and can take the Put-in-Bay water taxi from the Boardwalk Restaurant dock at 7:15 p.m. before each lecture. A short tour of Gibraltar Island will be provided. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT FOCUS OF JUNE ASFW EVENT

Human Resources and The Women’s Place are sponsoring a Working Mothers Support Network discussion on Wednesday (6/4) facilitated by Willa Young, Student Affairs Learner Initiatives. The forum will be held from noon-1 p.m. in 400 Stillman Hall Conference Room. SUMMER CONSTRUCTION TO IMPACT CAMPUS PARKING AND TRAFFIC

The loss of surface parking spaces and the occurrence of road closures/detours during summer quarter construction will impact daily parking availability and may create a ripple effect in other areas of campus as customers relocate to new areas. Many projects, including the temporary closure of College Road between 17th Avenue and 12th Avenue, the two week closure of the Ohio Union Garage, and the temporary closure of the South French Field House Lot for repaving will begin on Monday (6/9). Motorists should anticipate parking shortages/traffic delays and are encouraged to arrive on campus early. Read more >

CABS SUMMER QUARTER SERVICE ANNOUNCED

CABS Summer Quarter Service begins Friday (6/6) and runs through Sunday (9/21). During this time, CABS will run reduced bus service Monday-Friday, with no service overnight, on the weekends, and on university holidays.
