COLUMBUS, OSU PROVIDE NEW GREENHOUSE GAS TOOL TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES
A partnership of Ohio State’s Center for Resilience and Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s “Get Green Columbus” program has created a new greenhouse gas emissions inventory tool to help communities monitor and manage emissions. The new Microsoft Excel-based tool, called CFAR for Carbon Footprint Assessment and Reduction, was developed by industrial systems engineering graduate student Kieran Sikdar, who is an intern with the City of Columbus. It will be distributed free of charge to central Ohio communities, enabling them to capture their emissions data, establish goals and track reductions over time. Read more >
JUNE 13: HUMAN NUTRITION EXPERT TO DISCUSS NUTRIENT TRANSPORT
Hannelore Daniel, Institute of Nutritional Sciences, Technical University of Munich, will present "A Toolbox, a Zoo, and a Nutrient Transport Process," at noon Friday (6/13) in 252 Campbell Hall. The lecture will explore nutritional systems biology, the key processes that regulate metabolism at all levels of complexity. MBI LECTURE: REAL DEMOCRACY - HOW HONEYBEES CHOOSE A HOME

STONE LAB GUEST LECTURE SERIES CONTINUES JUNE 19
Jeff Reutter, director of the Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Laboratory at OSU, is the next Stone Lab summer lecture series guest on Thursday (6/19). Reutter will deliver “A Brief History of Stone Laboratory and Update on the Current Status of Lake Erie” from 7:45-9 p.m. Members of the public are welcome and can take the Put-in-Bay Water Taxi from the Boardwalk Restaurant Dock at 7:15 p.m. A short tour of Gibraltar Island will be provided. TAX OBLIGATIONS AND COMPLIANCE AT OSU JULY 1
The Controller’s Office will offer an informational session on Tax Obligations and Compliance at OSU from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday (7/1) in 231 Mount Hall on West Campus. Topics include sales tax, unrelated business income tax, non-resident alien tax issues, and gifts, contributions and fundraisers. IRB FORMS HELP SESSION JUNE 18
Investigators, graduate students and research staff are encouraged to attend a help session on IRB applications (e.g., initial review, continuing review, amendment, event reporting) from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday (6/18) in 113 Research Foundation, 1960 Kenny Road. Office of Responsible Research Practices staff will be on hand to answer questions. ORRP ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENT RESEARCHERS
As a special service to student researchers, staff from the Office of Responsible Research Practices offers special office hours this summer in 150L Page Hall, in space provided by the Undergraduate Research Office to help both graduate and undergraduate student researchers preparing Behavioral and Social Sciences Institutional Review Board submissions and exemption requests. - Former Ohio State tailback Maurice Hall will host the third Annual All-Star Football Camp, for youth ages 8-14, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (7/12) at the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility. Former Buckeyes and current NFL players will take the field to support Hall’s mission to improve the quality of leadership, discipline and athletic ability for the youth of central Ohio. JUNE 13: FREE PROSTATE CANCER SCREENINGS
Ohio State’s James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is offering free prostate cancer screenings from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday (6/13) in the hospital’s first floor clinic at 300 W. 10th Ave. Complimentary garage parking is provided. Annual screenings are recommended if you are age 50 or older, age 45 or older and African-American, or age 40 or older with a family history of prostate cancer.
