Construction update
Work to begin on SR 315 June 15
Beginning Monday (6/15), work on State Route 315 is expected to generate heavy traffic along Kenny Road, Olentangy River Road, High Street, Lane Avenue and possibly Woody Hayes Drive. Motorists should anticipate traffic delays, and are encouraged to plan accordingly to reduce frustration. Tuition to remain the same for 2009-10 academic year; third year running for 0 percent increase
The Ohio State Board of Trustees on Friday (6/5) agreed that tuition for Ohio resident undergraduates will remain frozen at the 2006-07 annual level of $8,406 for the upcoming 2009-10 academic year, in accordance with the state of Ohio budget requirements. This will be the first time in more than 50 years that resident undergraduate tuition had stayed at zero percent growth for more than two years. The board also approved a series of student fees and charges for activities and services that are self-supporting or receive no state support or tuition dollars. Marsh named to top research post at OSU Medical Center
Clay Marsh, an internationally respected Ohio State scientist and educator, has been named to lead the OSU Medical Center’s pioneering research program, one of the largest in the nation. In addition, he will direct the Medical Center’s innovative program for personalized health care. The OSU Board of Trustees on Friday (6/5) approved Marsh’s appointments as senior associate vice president for research in the Office of Health Sciences, vice dean for research in the College of Medicine and executive director of the OSU Center for Personalized Health Care. CABS summer quarter service and summer parking information
CABS summer quarter service begins Friday (6/12) and runs through Sunday (9/20). CABS will run reduced bus service Monday-Friday, with no service overnight, on the weekends, and on university holidays. Central campus permits will be required to park on central campus from 5 a.m.-4 pm. weekdays. If you have a west campus or CX permit and want to park on central campus, you may upgrade to a central campus permit beginning Friday (6/12). Read more: http://tp.osu.edu/
June 11: Faculty and staff away game football tickets on sale
The Faculty/Staff Away Game Ticket Sale will be conducted beginning at 6 pm. Thursday (6/11) online only at http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com. Away game tickets will be limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible for the away game tickets, faculty/staff had to purchase 2009 Ohio State football full or split season tickets. Limit two tickets, per game, per faculty/staff season ticket holder. School of Music hosts Wind Symphony Commencement Eve Pops Concert June 13
The fifth annual Wind Symphony "Commencement Eve" Pops celebrates spring commencement with a concert of contemporary standards at 8 p.m. Saturday (6/13) in Weigel Auditorium. Included is music from Bernstein's West Side Story, Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, and two hit songs from the 1920s. Three student vocalists are featured. Tickets available at the door: $6 general public, OSU faculty, staff, Alumni Association members; $4 senior citizens, students (with ID).
OHRC workshop: Understanding the Ohio Ethics Law
Organization and Human Resource Consulting is offering Understanding the Ohio Ethics Law, for University Staff, from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday (6/16) at Gateway, 1590 N. High St., Suite 430. Leadership Center workshops: Future Trends, Managing Multiple Generations
The OSU Leadership Center’s 21st Century Leadership series is offering two workshops on Wednesday (6/17). "Future Trends," at 9:15 a.m. and facilitated by Jerry Thomas, explores how new developments and trends affect our lives and organizations. June 24: IRB Process Workshop for Human Subjects Research
Postdocs, graduate students, and other researchers planning to conduct human subjects research are invited to an information session on the Institutional Review Board approval and exemption processes at OSU from 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday (6/24) in 105 Biomedical Research Tower. The workshop is targeted for researchers who submit materials to the Biomedical Science or the Cancer IRB, however all human subject researchers are welcome.
