Spotlight on ... Franklin County Master Gardeners

Master Gardeners assist OSU Extension with gardening and horticulture education. There are 125 Master Gardeners in Franklin County and around 3,500 in Ohio. In Franklin County, training is open to faculty, staff, students and the general public. Fifty hours of training is followed by 50 hours of community service. Gardening skills and knowledge aren't required, but a passion for learning and sharing knowledge is.

Franklin County Master Gardeners answer gardening questions via e-mail and the Garden Info Line; staff booths at garden festivals and Earth Day celebrations; and assist with field research on new and upcoming plants. They also work in the Heritage Garden at the governor's residence, and are active in community gardens around the county. In Franklin County, contact Cory Skurdal at 247-6046 or mailto:Skurdal.1@osu.edu.
