Construction update

SR 315 construction schedule

  • TODAY (6/18): Overnight, the following are one-time closures to install overhead signs: US 33 entrance ramp to I-670 east; Grandview Avenue entrance ramp to I-670 east; right lane of I-670 from Grandview Avenue to SR 315 north. The ramp from I-670 east to SR 315 north was closed on Monday.
  • FRIDAY (6/19) and SATURDAY (6/20): Crews will continue work on ramps, roadway and bridges while maintaining two lanes of traffic in each direction. There will be no additional ramp closures or lane restrictions overnight.
  • SUNDAY (6/21): One lane closed on SR 315 north from I-670 to North Broadway. Overnight, the following exit ramps on SR 315 north will close: Medical Center Drive and Ackerman Road.
    The SR 315 exit ramp to Lane Avenue will remain open throughout the entire project. (10 p.m.-5 a.m.)
    The traffic switch begins on SR 315 north. Drivers should expect delays through the overnight hours as the two lanes of northbound traffic are switched over to the southbound side.

Note: Once the entrance ramps are closed, they will remain closed until this fall. The entrance ramps to SR 315 north at Lane Avenue and Ackerman Road will remain open on Monday and so will the exit ramps from SR 315 north to Medical Center Drive and Ackerman Road

Researchers gather to discuss abrupt climate change

The evidence is mounting: Earth's climate has changed abruptly at times throughout its 4-billion-year history. This week, the world's top climate researchers have come to Ohio State to piece together this evidence and try to better understand today's climate change, and how it may relate to abrupt changes in the past and in the future. The American Geophysical Union Chapman Conference on Abrupt Climate Change is taking place in Mendenhall Laboratory through Friday (6/19). Topics range from climate models, paleoceanography, and ocean circulation to ice sheet dynamics as researchers try to decipher the climate-tipping points that have driven past civilizations to collapse. Marotta Hour: Rocco Di Pietro today at OSU Urban Arts Space

Visit the OSU Urban Arts Space from 7-8 p.m. today (6/18) and check out new sounds, curated by local musician and international composer Larry Marotta. This month features Rocco Di Pietro, who recently returned from Stanford Institute for the Creative Arts as composer in residence. June 19 Kirwan lecture addresses security of water resources

Motomu Ibaraki, OSU associate professor of Earth Sciences, will provide a broad introduction to the security issues relating to the world’s diminishing freshwater resources at noon Friday (6/19) in 423 Mendenhall Laboratory. Free screenings, entertainment at University Hospital East Community Day

The University Hospital East Community Day, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (6/20) at 1492 E. Broad St., includes free health screenings, free sports and school physicals, and live entertainment featuring clowns, face painting and a disc jockey. Register for the screenings on the day of the event until 1:30 p.m. Visitors may enter a free raffle for tickets to the Earth, Wind, & Fire and Chicago concert to be held Sunday (6/21) at the Schottenstein Center. Faculty recital opens 24th OSU Flute Workshop June 21

The 24th OSU Flute Workshop opens with a free faculty recital presented by Katherine Borst Jones at 8 p.m. Sunday (6/21). She will be joined by flutist Ann Stimson and pianist Yung-jen Chen in a program of music by Higdon, Clarke, Caplet and others. Other concerts open to the public are Monday (6/22) and Wednesday (6/24) at 8 p.m., and the closing concert of flute ensembles at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (6/25). WOSU hosts town meeting on June 25

WOSU Public Media will host a Facing the Mortgage Crisis Town Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday (6/25) at WOSU@COSI. WOSU has been joined by 22 community partners to connect people at risk of foreclosure with the resources they need. This collaborative community effort is raising awareness of the impact of the mortgage crisis on our region through on air, online and personal interactions. The free event will feature a discussion with certified housing counselors and others who can answer questions. The town meeting will be videotaped and will air at 9 p.m. Thursday (7/9) on WOSU TV. Stone Lab summer guest lecture series continues June 25

The Stone Laboratory 2009 Guest Lecture Series continues on Thursday (6/25) as Robert Boggs, director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, presents “Ohio Agriculture and Its Impact on the Environment.” Each Thursday evening lecture will begin at 7:45 p.m., lasting until 9 p.m. Guests are invited to take a Lake Erie Water Taxi, at their own expense, at 7:15 p.m. from the Boardwalk Restaurant dock to Gibraltar Island. The lectures will also be simulcast into 333C Kottman Hall on the Columbus campus, and podcasts will be available at http://stonelab.osu.edu/events/guest-lectures.
