OSUToday sponsored by the Wexner Center for the Arts
Still looking for a way to occupy your teens this summer? Why not try one of the Wexner Center’s half-day, weeklong workshops? In "Environmental" (July 6-10), students will learn how natural materials such as light, shadow, rain, dust, soil or pollen, and even pieces of garbage can be transformed into art. “Architecture and New Thinking: COOP HIMMELB(L)AU” (July 20-24) is a chance to tour the Austrian firm’s current exhibition at the Wex and learn from out-of-the-box techniques. Update on transition to the new Student Information System
The transition to the new Student Information System (SIS) has created some complications with respect to several student financial transactions, causing slow-downs in processing and back-ups in student service. The SIS project team has provided the following update, and asks that faculty and staff help disseminate this message to students and staff who work with students:
- Six systems issues have been identified and half of those should be cleared by next week at the latest; three others stem from questions seen every year and require working with individual students for resolution.
- Students who will be attending summer quarter are top priority; issues with fall quarter enrollees will be addressed as soon as possible.
- No late fees will be imposed arising from any of these problems and students should go ahead and attend class, even if their fees have not yet been paid.
- It is our sense (from numbers of students in the various financial services offices, length of queues on the phones, etc.) that things are getting better. Removing anxiety about late fees and being able to attend classes seems to be helpful in reducing the volume of traffic.
OIT advises: Do not respond to a suspicious e-mail
Recently, a number of fraudulent e-mails that appear to have come from webmail, 8help, and businesses are being sent to Ohio State faculty, staff and students. These e-mails, which ask recipients to provide their username and passwords, appear to be part of a phishing scam. These e-mail messages were not sent by Ohio State, webmail or 8help@osu.edu. You should never reply to these e-mails as they are fake, and do not give your password to anyone. The IT Service Desk strongly recommends that the messages be deleted. Anyone who replied to any of these fraudulent messages should contact the IT Service Desk at 688-HELP (4357). View a Phishing Awareness Video at http://www.youtube.com/osu.
