Commission helps fund $6.4 million effort to increase Ohio business productivity using simulation
A $3 million Ohio Third Frontier Commission grant helped fund a $6.4 million public/private initiative led by the Ohio Supercomputer Center, a multidisciplinary research center under Ohio State’s Office of Research, to maximize manufacturers’ use of simulation-driven design. This approach replaces physical product prototyping with computer simulations to cut time and costs. Previously an expensive process, easy-to-use and affordable “manufacturing apps” now will be available with OSC’s launch of the Intelligent Simulation Platform (IntelSim) program.

Postponed: June 17 retirement reception for Joseph Alutto
As you know, Executive Vice President and Provost Joseph Alutto has graciously agreed to serve as the university’s interim president, starting July 1. Because any event in recognition of his impending retirement would now be premature, the celebration in his honor that was scheduled for June 17 is being postponed. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
The university is very fortunate to continue to benefit from Alutto’s leadership during this time of transition, and we look forward to celebrating his many accomplishments and years of service to the university with the campus community at a future time.
