Ohio State awarded Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative Grant
-- Ohio State is one of four U.S. universities to receive the highly competitive Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative award for its project, “Training the Next Generation of STEM Faculty at Higher Education Institutions in India.” Ohio State will receive approximately $250,000 over a three-year period to launch a pilot program with Aligarh Muslim University in India that will lay the groundwork for capacity building in STEM education and research at Indian universities in collaboration with universities in the United States.

BuckeyeMail begins upgrade Friday (6/28)
-- Beginning Friday (6/28), all students’ BuckeyeMail accounts will be transitioned to Office 365 due to a mandatory upgrade by Microsoft. The upgrade will be complete for all users no later than July 5. BuckeyeMail users will be able to access their e-mail throughout the entire upgrade window, but it is possible to have up to an hour of downtime while the accounts are being upgraded. No messages will be lost. Please note, if students change their password via my.osu.edu during the upgrade, it will not sync with their e-mail password until the upgrade is complete for all users.Students needing help should be referred to the IT Service Desk at 688-HELP (4357) or 8help@osu.edu.

Alumnus commits $1 million to entrepreneurship education
-- Entrepreneur Timothy P. Keenan recently committed $1 million from his foundation (Keenan Family Foundation) to support technology entrepreneurship and commercialization education at Fisher College of Business. The gift will create the Tim and Kathleen Keenan Family Entrepreneurship Curriculum and Program Support Fund, which will be used to provide innovative experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students.

Buckeye Alert: Faster service, weather alerts for all Columbus campus users
-- Buckeye Alert, the university’s emergency notification system, is getting some updates. Beginning Monday (7/1), Buckeye Alert messages will be delivered faster, reducing the amount of time it takes to deliver messages to the university community. Faculty, staff and students also should be aware that every member of the university community will now automatically receive severe weather alerts for tornado warnings in Franklin County. In addition, the five-digit code that currently appears on your phone when text messages are sent will change (no action required).

-- onCampus is pulling together its annual Resource Guide this summer, with the goal to be as comprehensive as possible in highlighting the various entities at Ohio State that fit into these categories: University Organizations; University Services; Health and Recreation; Dining, Shopping and Accommodations; Training and Development; Financial Services; and Arts and Entertainment. Traffic alert
Traffic, roadways affected during multiple events this weekend
The Ross Tri-Fit Challenge will take place on Sunday (6/30). In support of this event, several roads, including portions of Lane Avenue, John Herrick Drive, 12th Avenue (between Neil and College), 17th Avenue, Coffey Road and Tharp Street will be closed from about 7:15-11 a.m. Additional information is available here. The Special Olympics State Summer Games will also take place throughout the day from Friday (6/28)-Sunday (6/30). As both events take place on campus, motorists should anticipate heavier than normal traffic on highways and streets and heavy pedestrian traffic when traveling in the area.

Intermediate low-impact boot camp today
-- Need a good workout, but don’t own any equipment? No problem … employees are invited to the Agricultural Administration Building Auditorium for an intermediate low-impact fitness class that will be sure to get your heart pumping. Make sure to wear tennis shoes, dress comfortably, and bring a water bottle. The class is from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday (6/27) at 2120 Fyffe Road. There is no cost to attend this class.

AAAS hosts author reception, book launch
-- The Department of African-American and African Studies hosts Horace Campbell, professor, African American Studies and political science at Syracuse University and author of Global NATO and the Catastrophic Failure in Libya. The reception takes place Saturday (6/29) from 3-6 p.m. at the Book Suite, 887 E. Long Street.

History undergraduate featured in new National Geographic series
-- The story of undergraduate history major Brandon Lewis, Ohio State Newark, who served in Afghanistan, is featured in the first episode of a new National Geographic series, “Eyewitness War.” The series airs at 10 p.m. Monday (7/1). Lewis and a friend he served with were flown to Los Angeles last April to be interviewed for combat footage they shot in Afghanistan.

Climate webinar: Great Lakes Climate Education Resources

More than 30,000 copies of the popular 60-page publication are distributed throug campus mail, at 81 building sites and throughout the year at new employee orientation sessions.
